ANNOUNCEMENT FROM REACT (REDDING/EASTON ASSOCIATION FOR COUNSELING ON TRANSITION)

I'd like to thank everyone that has supported our 8th Grade Transition Dance. This year we are proud to boast 68% student participation across the two schools.  We had 153 students in total, which breaks down to 54% from HKMS and a whopping 85% from JRMS!!  Way to promote the dance JRMS!! Kudos to your staff, administrators and enthusiastic students!
This year's theme was 70s/Hippies which was not embraced (in costume at least) by the students. The eighth graders seemed enthusiastic, spirited and respectful!  Our REACT students donned their tie dye shirts with pride & worked diligently to provide a fun 70s setting for the dance. They prepared cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn and other treats!  They went all out!  The DJ entertained us with music from the 70s archive to the present; he included limbo and line dances and even a solo performance or two! Our DJ covered all the bases and revved up the crowd.
It was a really enjoyable evening with our future Barlow students.  Thank you to all that helped by promoting the dance, administrative assistance & chaperoning the students. The evening went smoothly thanks to you all!

For the first time Barlow has an International Science Engineering Winner (ISEF). Annika Morgan will be representing the CSEF Life Sciences Category in Phoenix, AZ, May 12-17. CSEF awards seven all expense paid places for this prestigious competition.
