Travel Sketching in the Park
Saturday 6th April
10-3pm
Cost - $120
Want to sketch when you travel? Not sure what to pack so it’s light and easy? Don’t know where or how to set up in a new place? Then this fun and challenging one day workshop is for you! Ochre Lawson, experienced artist and teacher known for sketching while hiking mountains and doing en plein air paintings in difficult places, will facilitate this workshop.
Students will meet in Eklington park in Birchgrove and spend the day at a number of different sites within easy walking distance, doing quick ink pen and watercolour drawings in a small travel journal. Subjects may include boats, parkland, streetscapes and even people!
Ochre will demonstrate drawing and watercolour techniques, compositional devices, techniques in drawing perspective and proportion, how to create depth, how to draw trees, water, streetscapes, and how to find good subject matter in a shady spot.
If the weather is inclement an alternative venue will be arranged and we will be working from photos of similar subjects.
