Chemistry News You Can Use
Liquid metal that stretches - is Terminator on the horizon?
CNET reports that scientists have created a liquid metal that is able to stretch in multiple directions. Through the addition of iron particles, the metal can be manipulated with a magnet. You won't see Terminator-like machines soon, but there are opportunities for this material in soft robotics. Find out more by reading this short article from CNET or the ACS News Service Weekly PressPac article.

Speakers in the Schools Program
Share your knowledge with students! Each year, as part of the Las Vegas Science Technology Festival, the program looks for STEM professionals to give talks and/or demonstrations in local schools. If you have time between April 28 and May 3, sign up to present at a school. Your commitment could be as short as 1 - 2 hours on one day or as long as multiple hours over multiple days, depending on your availability. They will work hard to connect you with an appropriate school(s) and teacher(s). Your matches will be emailed to you and the teachers the 2nd week in April to allow you and the school staff to connect and schedule. There are additional opportunities throughout the week-long festival including community events, volunteering opportunities, sponsorships and the Giant Expo on May 4th. Contact Cheryl Wagner for any questions or visit www.scifest.vegas.
