'Murder, Mystery and My Family' - BBC One, 5 April 2019
Don’t miss Friday’s episode of Murder, Mystery and My Family, which will feature Professor Helen Johnston and Dr Victoria Dawson, from the Our Criminal Ancestors project, discussing the case of Ethel Major, who was convicted of poisoning her husband and was hanged at Hull Prison in 1934.

Major was the last person and the only woman to be executed at Hull Prison. Thousands of people signed a petition to the Home Office for her reprieve but it was not granted. The case remains controversial.

Friday’s programme will see top barristers reinvestigating this fascinating case to try to piece together the evidence.

It starts at 9.15am on BBC One. The programme will be available on the BBC iPlayer shortly after broadcast, along with the other nine episodes in Series 2.
