Habitat for Humanity—Kick-off Celebration
Saturday • April 6, 2019 • 9:00 a.m. • 1307 Carolina Avenue, Cincinnati OH 45237

Hello St. Thomas friends - our Eastside Coalition build is underway! Here are the pertinent dates, with additional detail below.

Kickoff celebration: next Saturday, April 6, 9 a.m., 1307 Carolina Avenue, Cincinnati OH 45237 (Bond Hill) – all are welcome!

Saturday work days: May 4, June 1, June 29, July 27, Aug 24, Sep 21.

Lunch dates: June 1, July 27, Sep 21

About the home: Our designated home is at 1307 Carolina Avenue, 45237 (Bond Hill). The future homebuyer is Alexis McKinney (see attached). This is a bit closer to most of us than last year’s build. Because Habitat is making some adjustments to the construction process in order to become more efficient and serve more families, there’s a slight chance that a build day could be at another location. If that happens, we will give you notice before the day and you will get to diversify your experience!

Signing up for a build day: If you volunteered last year, we have a new online sign-up system that we believe is much more user-friendly and will let you learn about other Habitat opportunities, but it will require you to re-register. Registration for each shift is very important so that we can plan for the right amount of work to keep you busy, supervision, and safety equipment. It is not optional! Complete instructions are attached.

Lunch details: We need one person to coordinate lunch for each of the three days, engaging as many volunteers as you like. You do NOT have to register to provide lunch, only to contact me. We anticipate the lunch you provide will need to serve approximately 25 volunteers. The coalition will contact me early in the week to remind us, and on Thursday they will let us know how many volunteers we will be serving that day to give you an idea of how much food to prepare. If for any reason there is a last-minute cancellation of the work day, they will contact us on Saturday morning. The menu is completely up to you (but I don’t advise hot food in the summer). Whatever you choose to bring will be greatly appreciated and most certainly will be enjoyed by all the volunteers! We will also need beverages. Single-serving cans or bottles work the best and we do recycle the containers. Please bring any paper products & utensils needed to serve and eat and also a trash bag. Additional bottles of water are always welcome on really hot days! Our serving table is 2 sawhorses with a sheet of plywood on top, so a cheap plastic tablecloth or sheet or old shower curtain is needed to cover. A bottle of hand sanitizer and paper towels are great for washing hands since we will not have running water.

Please contact me if you have any questions!
