A Message from Councilwoman Gilmore

The Far Northeast Area Plan is approaching a final draft that will be presented to Denver City Council this June. There is one last draft for public review that will be open for you to share your comments before April 22nd.

The draft is the culmination of more than 18-months of work by community members, stakeholders and city staff. We have held 5 public meetings, two in combination with our annual town hall meetings, 5 online surveys, 18 steering committee meetings compromised of over 20 participants from community organizations, RNOs, local businesses, community partners and council offices. The Far Northeast project team also participated in numerous community events over the past two years.

We want to make sure that the vision that the draft lays out reflects what the community wants to see in the Montbello, Green Valley Ranch and DIA neighborhoods over the next twenty years!

Please read the plan here and and take the feedback survey here before April 22nd.

As always customer service is our top priority, so please do not hesitate to contact my office at 720-337-7711.

  Kindly,

 DEN Airport Voted Best
2019 Skytrax World Airport Awards

The annual “Skytrax World Airport Awards” were announced in March in London and for the second year in a row, Denver International Airport (DEN) has been voted by passengers as the “Best Regional Airport in North America” and was the top-ranked airport in the U.S.

Through Skytrax, DEN received several other honors, including: The Skytrax World Airport Awards are voted by customers in an annual global airport customer satisfaction survey. The survey, completed by more than 100 nationalities during a six-month period, assesses customer service and facilities across over 550 airports. The survey evaluated the customer experience across check in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security/immigration and departures. The World Airport Awards are a global benchmark of airport excellence.

The accolades for DEN follow years of record setting growth for the airport. In 2018, DEN celebrated the fifth consecutive year of record-setting passenger traffic with 64.5 million passengers served, a 5.1 percent increase over 2017. International traffic at DEN also shattered growth records in 2018, serving nearly three million passengers, which was about a 14 percent over 2017.

 Street Lights Convert to LED
44,000 Denver Lights Will be Converted

At the intersection of South Federal Blvd and Exposition Ave last Tuesday, March 26th, Mayor Hancock, Denver Public Works Executive Director Eulois Cleckley and Xcel Energy kicked off the conversion of 44,000 streetlights across Denver to new LED lights. This conversion to LED streets lights is the next big step in Denver’s commitment to energy conservation and our work to address climate change at the local level.

The efficiency of LED lights provides a cost savings of 4-7 percent, and sustainability benefits begin immediately with a 50 percent reduction in energy use, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and no carbon footprint. By more effectively illuminating Denver’s sidewalks and roadways, this will help people who drive, walk and bike feel to do so safely as they move and meet our city’s Vision Zero goal.
