Spring News
Congratulations to the City of Campbell River and BC Housing for signing an MOU to bring a 50 bed supported housing project to Campbell River!

The 2018 Housing Needs Assessment showed a need for more supportive housing, and the 2018 Point in Time Count showed there were at least 81 people completely homeless in Campbell River last year.

Congratulations also to the newly formed Campbell River and District Coalition to End Homelessness who advocated for more supportive housing at City Council last year. See the letters and presentations from CRDCEH here

The Health Network has been working with the BC Non-Profit Housing Association to hold their 2019 Vancouver Island Ready Set Build course in Campbell River.

Ready Set Build is a course for non-profit organisations who want to learn about how to build affordable housing.

For more information on the course go here.

Click here to register for the course in Campbell River on May 13th. Registration is limited to 20 participants.
Island Health Wellness Grants
Congratulations to all groups who will be receiving grants in 2019. Full list is here. The Health Network will be providing support to Laichwiltach Family Life on the Urban Indigenous Housing Dialogue/s project, as well as continuing to provide support in Sayward.

Community Health Profiles
Last year the Health Network did a lot of work on gathering health and wellness data on communities in the Strathcona region. The idea of the Community Data Profiles is to provide a snapshot of key priorities of the social determinants of health to improve understanding of how they relate to community health and to be a tool for community members who are creating projects that will influence the social determinants in their region.

We are very proud of these Community Data Profiles and encourage you to take a look by clicking on the images below.

Some profiles still need a couple of touch ups (feel free to let Libby know if you find any typos or mistakes - lking@srd.ca).

At the March meeting of the Table of Partners, we welcomed new members to join our governing committee. The full membership of the Table of Partners is below and new members are marked*.

We are sorry to see Noba Anderson depart as Co-Chair. Noba has been a driving force behind the Health Network since discussions about forming a network first started in 2015.
