Customs Export & Import Procedures Workshop

Tralee - 23rd May 2019


FREE workshop covering what Importers and Exporters will need to know about how to move their goods through Customs in Ireland and the UK post Brexit. This full day workshop will enable companies to understand both Revenue rules in Ireland and HMRC rules in the UK. We will cover the post Brexit simplifications being introduced by both Authorities and how to apply for these. We will also explain the operational requirements necessary to move goods through Customs.

IBYE
The search for Kerry’s Best Young Entrepreneur of 2019 is well underway!                                  
IBYE is a programme run by the 31 Local Enterprise Offices (LEOs) with the support of the Department of Enterprise and Innovation and Enterprise Ireland. €50,000 investment fund available through Local Enterprise Office Kerry.The competition is open to people between the ages of 18 and 35 with an innovative business idea, new start-up or established business. Over 55 applications were received and have been shortlisted down to 16! 

The competition is broken down into three categories:

Best Business Idea (Pre-Trading). Local Winner: €7,000 investment. Local Runner-Up: €3,000 investment

Best Start-Up Business (Trading Up to 18 Months). Local Winner: €15,000 investment.  Local Runner-Up €5,000 investment

Best Established Business (Trading over 18 Months). Local Winner: €15,000 investment.  Local Runner-Up €5,000 investment

Bootcamps and Pitching will take place in April and the Kerry IBYE awards will take place on Friday the 3rd of May.

Brexit is the impending withdrawal of the United Kingdom (UK) from the European Union (EU). The United Kingdom is due to leave the EU on the 31st of October 2019.

What Financial Supports are available?
Starting to Plan 
Enterprise Ireland offers up to €5,000 to assist client companies develop a plan through its Be Prepared Grant.
InterTrade Ireland provides ‘Start to Plan’ vouchers (€2,000) to enable SMEs to get professional advice on Brexit, including likely tariffs, currency management, regulatory and customs issues and movement of labour, goods and services. This is open to all businesses. Intertrade Ireland maintains a register of Brexit Advisers.
 
In March 2018, the Government launched a new €300 million Brexit Loan Scheme for eligible businesses with up to 499 employees. Loan amounts range from €25,000 up to €1.5m, for terms of up to three years and a maximum interest rate of 4%.

Trading Online Voucher Seminar and Scheme Update

Great News! The TOV scheme now accepts applications from businesses who are trading for a minimum of 6 months (previously 12 months). The vouchers are targeted at businesses that have a limited online trading presence; less than 10 employees and a turnover of less than €2million.

MICROFINANCE IRELAND LOANS

Microfinance Ireland (MFI), is a not-for-profit lender, established to deliver the Government’s Microenterprise Loan Fund.

MFI works very closely with the Local Enterprise Offices (LEOs), providing loans to small businesses based in the Republic of Ireland, with fewer than 10 employees and turnover up to €2m, by providing unsecured business loans of €2,000 to €25,000 for commercially viable proposals. Loans can be used to fund start-up costs, working capital, purchase of stock, equipment, machinery, business expansion etc.

Whether your business is set up as a Sole Trader, Partnership or a Limited Company, you are eligible to apply.  All business sectors are eligible to apply, with these exceptions: http://www.microfinanceireland.ie/exclusions/

You can apply for an MFI loan through your Local Enterprise Office and avail of a 1% discount off the standard interest rate (currently 7.8% APR) bringing the rate to 6.8% APR.
