INVERCLYDE APPRENTICESHIP CAREERS FAIR

The Inverclyde Apprenticeship Careers Fair was back for 2019 at Greenock Town Hall! Held during Scottish Apprenticeship Week, the event was supported by many employers incuding BBC Scotland, NHS, Rolls-Royce, JP Morgan, and Ferguson Marine. Young people got the chance to speak to employers about apprenticeship opportunities and their importance to Inverclyde's future workforce. International Women's Day 2019

We organised visits to NHS Renfrew & Inverclyde, British Airways and Rolls-Royce as part of International Women's Day 2019! 4 groups of young women were given a tour at each of the organisations getting an invaluable look at what happens behind the scenes and the role apprentices play. Incredible Innovations Final

|
March 26th saw the final of the inaugural Incredible Innovations Competition organised by DYW West and Morrison Construction. The competition allowed young people from Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, West Dunbartonshire and Inverclyde to come up with ideas on how they could improve certain aspects of their schools if they were to win £1,000.
Teams from Notre Dame High School, Williamwood High School, Mary Russell, St. Stephens High School, St. Peter the Apostle High School, Our Lady and St. Patrick's High School and St. Columba's High School battled it out to win the £1000 prize money plus two runners-up received £500 each to help fund their ideas and put their plans in to action.
The team from Notre Dame High School claimed the top £1000 prize with their eco-friendly, reusable water bottle idea. The teams from St. Peter the Apostle High School and Williamwood High School shared the runners-up prize of £500 with with their homework planner app and multi-phone charger ideas respectively.

February 26th and March 28th marked the first and second 'Hire Me' workshops organised by DYW West and Renfrewshire Council. Senior phase pupils attended 3 different workshops focusing on CVs, interviews and application forms to help them apply for jobs in the future. A 4th session involved a tour of West College Scotland Paisley campus.
