Personal Note...
When I heard Notre Dame was on fire, I immediately ran there. For the next few hours as the cathedral burned, I gave live updates on France 24.
It wasn't until I got home at night that I felt the true sadness and shock of what I just saw. The feeling of helplessness in the crowd as we watched this treasure burn.
As an American, I am humbled by the history of this city. I hope this terrible event can make all of us remember to never take the beauty of Paris for granted, and our good fortune to visit or live here.
