Writers' Festival Earlybird registration

Earlybird Registration closes April 19

Midnight, April 19, 2019 is the Early Bird Registration deadline to register for the festival by mail. Only five days from now if you want to qualify for the prize draw. On line closes at Midnight, April 30.

A wide variety of workshops will be offered at the festival, including both skill development workshops and open forums with presenters, based on questions and answers, in a relaxed and intimate setting on the shores of Shuswap Lake. Those who register early will have their pick of Blue Pencil sessions - an opportunity to discuss your writing with a pro.

We are excited to announce our list of fantastic presenters for the 2019 Word On The Lake Writers’ Festival.

Robert Mackwood has spent over 35 years in the book industry.

As the owner and principal agent of the BC-based Seventh Avenue Literary Agency – one of Canada’s leading non-fiction agencies – he represents over 50 authors with sales to English language publishers and translations rights to over 15 countries for some works. The Agency has negotiated over 200 client book contracts. Read more about Robert here.

Norma Charles’s novel, RUNNER: Harry Jerome, World’s Fastest Man, was shortlisted for the Sheila Egoff Award for Children’s Literature, 2018. Last spring, she toured schools and libraries from Prince George to Prince Rupert with BC Book Prizes outreach program.

Norma has had over twenty books for children published, with several more on the way. Her novels, besides RUNNER: Harry Jerome, World’s Fastest Man, include All the Way to Mexico, winner of the Chocolate Lily Award, Run Marco Run, winner of the Moonbeam Gold medal, and Sophie Sea to Sea, winner of the BC Year 2000 Award. Bring a friend to Café Lit!

This is a great way to introduce someone to the Writers' Festival. Hosted by Shuswap Association of Writers, Café Lit will kick off the festival weekend on Friday evening, May 10, 2019, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm in the Balmoral Room of the Prestige Harbourfront Resort,
Meet and mingle with Word on the Lake festival presenters. There will be readings by Norma Charles, Gail Bowen, Bill Stenson, Karen Autio, Brenda Baker, Anthony Dalton, and Nancy Bell, as well as musical entertainment by Linda Kidder.

This event is open to the public. Admission: $20.00 ($2.00 discount for SAW members). Refreshments provided, cash bar
