Bush Bound for Winter
Early in the year we made a private decision to leave our Wellington home of ten years. While we'd been thinking about this for some time, it took a leap of courage to decide the time was right. It was not a decision we made lightly because in many ways we owe our art-based lifestyle to this stable and affordable rental. The need to embrace change and practice resilience has informed this move and we are hugely excited for the fresh energy it will bring our art practice.
We are hitting the road in May with our sights set on the West Coast for the winter at least. We both spent a good chunk of our childhoods there and have good community networks in Fox River near Punakaiki. It will be a great place to recharge!
Before we go we have a few jobs to complete, a whole bunch of art and stuff to move on and one very special project to start planning (shhh announcement coming soon).

Firstly, we warmly invite you to come up to our studio home in Mount Cook next Sunday for a garage sale like no other. As you can imagine we have collected, restored and made many great things in the decade we've lived here. We'd love to pass much of it on to our fantastic supporters, rather than let it gather dust in storage.
The day will run from 11am and everything will be available. The front yard will be full of materials, tools and workshop nic-nacs. Downstairs will be books & zines, quality shelves and furniture, kitchen and kids stuff, clothes, fabric and other general items.
Upstairs in the studio we'll show an exhibition of all our remaining art pieces and run a silent auction. This will be run online and irl concurrently so if you can't make it in person, attend the event page or watch our instagram stories on the day.
This will be your last opportunity to take home these works and price will be no barrier - we'd rather see our work hang on your walls then have them hide in storage. In the afternoon you are welcome to stay for a shared meal - bring a plate and celebrate our next adventure.

Last week we won a contract to illustrate a new wrap for the Wellington City Council's Bond St container. The container sits on astroturf and creates an urban hang out zone in the CBD, it's used for community events and to promote Zealandia. Our illustration will show all of Wellingtons fantastic walks in a pick-a-path puzzle style to help passersby slow down and enjoy the space. Keep an eye on it from mid May.
Kaia the Kaka is still running in Brooklyn after being extended to include these school holidays. It's a great, free, nature based activity that incorporates science, art and play. Make a date with some friends and head to the park before the end of April to play. More details here.
We hope to see you on the 28th even if just for a drink. We will dearly miss our Mount Cook neighbourhood. We know we'll return someday, maybe even sooner than you think. For now, help send us off in good company.

Followed by: Shared meal and drinks.
