Let All Who are Hungry Come and Eat

The Jewish holiday of Pesach (Passover) begins at sundown on Friday and is observed for eight days. The beginning of Pesach is commonly observed with a special Seder, or ritual dinner, which recalls the Israelites’ exodus from slavery in Egypt under Pharoah’s rule.

Some affectionately joke that Jewish holidays and days of observance are marked by either feasting or fasting, and sure enough the Pesach meal can be a feast. Whereas food is often used as a way to celebrate in the Jewish community, it takes a particularly symbolic role during Pesach and is center stage during the traditional Seder.

Indeed, on the Seder table you will find wine, matzah (unleavened bread), zeroa (shank bone), beitzah (egg), maror (bitter herbs), karpas (vegetable), and charoset (sweet paste usually made with apples, walnuts, and wine), each symbolizing different values or pieces of the Pesach story. Some modern additions may also include an orange, potato, or other items.

The community storytelling of having experienced suffering firsthand reminds us of our purpose as Jewish people in the world today. It is this memory of hardship that compels us to act. Among words read during the Seder are “let all who are hungry come and eat.” This declaration is not only about food and hunger, but a commitment to literally and metaphorically opening our doors to those in need and to being welcoming and inclusive to people of all identities. Click here to continue reading our latest blog post.

Summer Farm Camp Registration Now Open!

We can't wait to welcome your "farmer-in-training" age 4-12 for STEM-based activities, omanut (arts and crafts), shirim (songs), and mischakim ba’teva (nature play) all through the lens of Jewish tradition. Choose from one of six sessions this summer!

Activities may include: Farm “chores,” experiencing Jewish values, cooking and crafts, science experiments, singing farm songs, hearing stories, and the mindful practice of listening to nature.

Our pay-what-you-can Farm Stand hours are changing!

Beginning May 2, Farm Stand hours will return to Sundays from 10am-3pm and Thursdays from 2-6pm.

Our Impact this Quarter


Between January and March 2019, the Farm distributed almost 7,000 pounds of produce to almost 4,500 individuals, diverted almost 250,000 pounds of waste from the landfill, and welcomed almost 2,000 youth and families at programs and events! Mimuna Event at the Hive


Celebrate the end of Passover Moroccan style with our partners at the Hive! Connect with people of all faiths, ages, and backgrounds over food, music, and celebration. Mimuna is a North African Jewish community tradition that historically brought Jewish and Muslim neighbors together. Kids are welcome to attend this unique event!
