Gotta Keep Moving...

One of the key tools for me to start each new week with the joys and challenges that the week will bring is a weekly newsletter from my good friend and partner with Rock Harbor Church, Pastor Bud Lamb. (https://budlamb.com/)

This week Bud had this to share (see full blog post here)

"You've got to pick up your cross and keep moving - if you don't you are not yet living as one of My followers.  Luke 14:27 BLT [Bud Lamb Translation]

Gotta keep moving, that's true - veritas.

Personal responsibility.  Many aspire, few follow through.  I am one who picks up his cross and puts it down. Time after time, I pick it up and put it down.

Somewhere along the way, following Jesus' way, I learned he loves me no more or no less whether I pick it up or put it down. This is a life lesson to learn. He loves me no less whether I pick it up or put it down.

The same is true for you. Veritas. This is a very slow way of following Jesus. Not the type A.  Yet it can be slow and steady.

Small steps repeated will take me anywhere.

And I aspire today to pick it up and carry it as far as I can. To sit down and calculate the cost. (Luke 14:28)

What does that look like?

Undignified. Following Jesus has a foolish feel to it.  It looks nothing like success in the modern world.

It can look like a crawl, a walk, a limp, run, sit, weep, or pray...but above all, a heart to seek first the kingdom of God."

Our Launch Team Meeting this past Sunday evening was a real turning point for Rock Harbor.  We worked together with a clear vision of the next steps we are going to take even if it may look more like a crawl then a run.

Our goal is simple for now...
  • Have Outreach Events in the community of Melbourne Beach to invite people to our monthly Welcome Events
  • Have dynamic Welcome Events that give anyone who attends a desire to be a part of the ministry God is doing through Rock Harbor and to take the next step in coming to a Launch Team Meeting
  • Have Launch Team Meetings that equip the workers God is sending us to be ready for the harvest coming when we start weekly services in the fall. (Matthew 9:35-38)
So here are the upcoming events we have planned to make these steps possible...
Saturday, April 20 - 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm
Facebook Event

Join us in table fellowship as we look at how Jesus was the fulfillment of that Messiah through a Seder Meal.

Through taste, smell, prayer, and Scripture we will explore the joy we have through what Jesus accomplished.

This is just a tasting meal...so we recommend you have your dinner before coming :)

We will meet in a personal residence so please contact us for the location.

There will be an optional foot washing...
Tuesdays, April 23 to May 21
8:15 am - 10:15 am
Ryckman Park - Mel Beach

Facebook Event

A weekly meet & greet of all "Mom's" in the Melbourne Beach area!

We are communicating with the board that oversees the little league games at Doug Flutte Fields about having our tent set-up on 4/27 to get to know families in the area and invite them to our Welcome Event on 4/28.

Welcome Event - April 28th
Facebook Event

This Welcome Event will be a chance to connect with the Rock Harbor team and hear the story and vision behind Rock Harbor Church, find out what we believe, and how you can be a part of this amazing team.

We are gathering in the Welcome Center of Ryckman Park of the Town of Melbourne Beach.

There will be a glimpse of the message and worship that we will have when our Sunday Morning Services start in the fall.

5:00 pm to 5:30 pm - Pizza & Drinks for Everyone
5:30 pm to 7:00 pm - Vision Sharing (children program provided)
Melbourne Beach's Founders Day - May 4th
Perhaps the biggest event each year in Mel Beach...RHFL will be there with our photo booth so that people can get a free picture of them "Catching the Wave"!
We are continuing to connect with the community by using the church sound and video systems.

The Denim & Diamond's Social was a great fundraiser for Gemini Elementary School & we had a lot of fun being the DJ for that event!

Also, we have reached out to people in the Melbourne Beach area and we are scheduling doing music and an outdoor movies for neighborhoods and block parties over the summer.
We are excited to keep on taking the next step and we know that step-by-step God will continue to lead us to the launch of a new life-giving and gospel-centered church.

Please join us in prayer for:
  • The Good News of Jesus to reach as many people as possible through RHFL
  • That God leads us to the right person to lead and build a Worship Music Ministry at RHFL
  • God's favor at all of our upcoming events
  • That God leads people to join our Launch Team
  • That God leads people to support RHFL financially
We know that many of our next steps are going to include some large financial expenditures such as the deposit on our launch location, insurance for the new larger building, signage, hospitality, advertising, children's ministry tools, Bibles and technical purchases.

We ask that you prayerfully consider taking the next step in partnering with us financially.
