Something to Think About....

"These aren't the droids you're looking for."  For some reason, this usually comes to mind when I read the opening of this event in scripture...

[Jesus] said, “Go into the village over there. When you enter it, you will find tied up there a colt that no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks, ‘Why are you untying it?’ just say, ‘Its master needs it.’”
--- Luke 19:30-31 (CEB)

This scene actually shows up in all 4 gospels - not everything does. It gives it a little extra credence.  It's the beginning part of Jesus' "Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem" - which is what Palm Sunday is celebrating.  Jesus riding this colt is one way that Jesus is claiming to be King - to be the Messiah.  It completes a prophecy that appears in Zechariah 9:9.  Super cool.  Folks still didn't get He was a different kind of King - but it's fantastic symbolism.

Somebody other than Jesus helped make this happen, though.  Somebody said to His disciples, "Sure, total strangers - you can take my colt."  Would you do the same with your bike?  or car?  I think I would not.

Take a minute to talk with God about what you've got - not just your stuff, but your gifts, talents, circumstances, experiences, time, influence - anything with value.  What are you willing to offer to help bring Jesus into the world around you?  What can you give?  Consider letting it go - what if God used it to play a part in a huge role that we can't yet see?  That could be cool.  Imagine the colt-owner getting that animal back - I bet he was deeply honored to be a part of this.  It would be the same for us.
