Preschool Garden Lessons at
Dixon Educational Center

The Project GROWS staff has enjoyed facilitating weekly garden-based lessons with preschool students. So far, these little gardeners have planted individual marigold flowers in pots and have seeded potatoes in their raised garden beds! We have two lessons left before the end of the school year, during which we will broadcast-seed wildflowers, and focus on herbs and how smells and tastes affect what we eat!
Young Chefs Cooking Classes
Young Chefs is a cooking and nutrition education program for youth who attend the Boys and Girls Club of Staunton, Waynesboro, and Augusta County. Participants are learning basic nutrition, cooking, and kitchen safety skills that engage all of their senses as they explore nutritious recipes and prepare a meal together! After a brief nutrition lesson, youth work together in small groups to prepare a side dish that is featured on the menu for that night’s dinner at the Club.

Garden Work Days
Friday, April 19th | 3pm - 6pm

Saturday, May 18th | 9am - 12pm

Join us on the Project GROWS farm for family-friendly Garden Work Days! During these times we invite community members of all ages and abilities to get their hands in the dirt with us. Spring is a busy time of year at Project GROWS as we start seeds, plant, and ready the gardens in preparation for the growing season! Kids are always welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. Individuals are not required to sign up in advance for our Garden Work Days; however, organized groups that would like to volunteer during these times should contact our Farm Manager, Laura Smith, at laura@projectgrows.org. We hope to see you on the farm!
