5th/6th grade students have been exploring famous figures from the Revolutionary War period of American History. Students in one class have used a green screen to create images of themselves as the characters they are studying.
Dear Friends and Families,
Sometime long ago a tradition began of students wearing hats (typically not allowed during the school day) on the Friday before a vacation. I'd like to expand on this a bit and declare these days, "Waitsfield We Rock!" shirts days. If you or your child has a We Rock shirt, please wear it tomorrow. They are comfy and celebrate our school! Shirts are still available, for $6, from Kathi.
Below is a reminder message from the HUUSD board regarding a very short (three words!) survey they are asking all in our community to take to consider our priorities and aspirations for our school district. In a few weeks, we will also be sharing a much more comprehensive climate survey which will be available to all families served by HUUSD, students in grades 3-6 and staff. This upcoming climate survey, which is a research-based tool used nationally, will help our school and district understand our perceived strengths and challenges in even more depth. Both the snapshot survey (cited below) and this upcoming more in depth tool will help our district prioritize our work. Thank you for taking the time to complete them. Your input and dialogue about our schools, as complex as these discussions might sometimes become, keep our schools vibrant in our community. Thank you.
Respectfully, Kaiya Korb
Our kindergarten students have returned to the woods on Wednesdays for the weekly ECO program. Can you tell how happy they are to be there?
REMINDER: “3 words” Survey Open Until Friday
Have you participated in the HUUSD school district “3 words” survey? Friday, April 12 is the last day to do it! The survey is the first step in the development of a vision and goals for our school district that will guide decisions at every level.Among other things, we really want to know: “What are three words that represent your hopes for what our school district will be like in the next several years?”
The survey is available online at:
www.surveymonkey.com/r/HUUSD_VISION. Hard copies are also available at the town office and library in each of our six towns.
We have a big goal of getting 800 respondents for this survey and so far we have just over 400. Please help to us meet our goal, but more importantly to ensure that the decisions we make moving forward are informed by YOUR values!
Respectfully,
The HUUSD Board
