The Office of Diversity Enhancement (ODE), in collaboration with the Department of OBGYN and Women's Health, invites you to join Dr. Duvivier at the 5th Annual Roger Duvivier, MD, FACOG Lecture.  We hope you can join us for an amazing lecture and breakfast.
Congratulations, Elise Mike!  Elise is the recipient of this year’s National Medical Fellowships Manhattan Central Medical Society Scholarship.

The goal of National Medical Fellowships (NMF) is to support the next generation of diverse leaders in healthcare who will achieve health equity through knowledge, skills, commitment, and cultural competency. NMF offers scholarships to underrepresented students in medicine and the health professions to help them achieve this goal. The MCMS’s Scholarship is a $2,000 award offered to one African-American medical student in New York City to recognize leadership, academic achievement, and community service.

Elise is an MD/PhD student.  In 2018 she completed her PhD and has now entered the clerkship phase of her medical education.  She served as the 2017 - 2019 SNMA Region IX Director, and was profiled by Melanin In Medicine.
Congratulations to Bianca Ulloa on successfully completing the qualifying exam and receiving a Masters in Biological Sciences.
One of the many ways ODE is supportive of our students is by facilitating their attendance at conferences.  Students representing the Einstein chapter of the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA) attended the March 2019 Northeast Regional Conference in New York City.
ODE is pleased to support the attendance of students representing Einstein's chapter of the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) at regional and national conferences.  Featured in the left photo are Patricia Rivera and Lizbeth Grado-Gutierrez attending the 2019 LMSA National Conference in Lubbock, Texas.  Featured in the right photo are Juan Vazquez, Veronica Ortiz, Dr. Juan Robles and Tara Herrera attending the LMSA Northeast Conference in Syracuse, New York.
Associate Dean for Diversity Enhancement Dr. Irene Blanco and Assistant Dean for Diversity Enhancement Ms. Nilda I. Soto were thrilled to be a part of the audience at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez March 29, 2019 visit to Einstein.  Einstein was abuzz with excitement.  Einstein students made their presence known by volunteering at the event, being asked to be members of the stage audience and by the large number who were part of the audience.
ODE along with the Associated Medical Schools of New York, AMSNY, hosted a visit by three Bronx Assembly members on April 5, 2019.  The Assembly members in attendance were Michael Blake, Nathalia Fernandez and Karines Reyes.

The focus of the visit was to share with the legislators the significance and need of several diversity programs funded by the legislature that include the AMSNY Post Baccalaureate Program in Buffalo, Diversity Medical Scholarships and the high school program, Einstein Enrichment Program.  Dean Gordon Tomaselli, MD, addressed the group and shared with them the importance of these diversity programs at Einstein.  Einstein students who have participated in these programs and scholarships shared with the legislators the impact these programs have had on their training and careers.
ODE held its annual Diversity Second Look for diversity accepted students on Sunday, March 31, 2019.  Faculty, students and staff welcomed 18 accepted students to our campus, for a second look.  Students came out in force and played an integral part of the day by conducting tours, hosting accepted students for overnight stays and participating in a student-led real talk session.
Congratulations to the Class of 2019!  Match Day at Einstein was simply amazing.
ODE supports Einstein's SNMA, LMSA, PRIDE, MSA and APAMSA chapters.  A visit to our office, and a quick glance at our door, and you will have an immediate idea of the many activities Einstein students are engaged in.
Einstein students have mastered time management skills allowing them to participate in fun activities such as ice skating, dancing, celebrating the lunar year, attending a theater performance, travel and just plain fun with other students.
