Memorial Stones  that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the Lord is mighty, so that you may fear the Lord your God forever.

Memorial Stones
God has given us full lives and days and much to be thankful for.  We wanted to give you a brief update of what we have been up to.
La Escuelita
As Kristin began teaching 7th grade homeschool full time this year she has more need for assistance in the daily operations of La Escuelita.  Dale keeps the yard and property presentable and in working order.  A couple of weeks ago Kristin called on him to help address a discipline issue with the boys in her 7th grade class.  This turned in to a lesson in manly responsibility and afterward one of the mother's tearfully shared her gratitude that he would take the time as neither of the boys have a good and present male example in their lives.  Behind the scenes we make purchases, pay bills, prepare snacks and run errands as well as direct the Tuesday and Friday afternoon elementary classes.  Praise God for a full staff of native Spanish speaking teachers this year!

Anita began teaching 2 preschool classes once a week and just completed an 8 week session.  The Wednesday morning class was planned following a Story Hour model and was intended for 3 and 4 year olds to attend with their mothers though students have been accompanied by uncles, fathers and grandparents as well.  It has been such a fun class!!!  We have focused on teaching Biblical truth and giving opportunity for English exposure, fun songs and time to create crafts together.  The afternoon class, which follows the same lesson plan as the morning class, is for 5 and 6 year olds that attend by themselves.   The theme for the first session was "God Made me special" and we discussed creation and  how we fit into God's plan!  Dale assists in these classes and it has been a fun project to do together!
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
In the past few weeks we have been blessed and greatly encouraged by several visits from friends!  Here we are pictured with JR and Joy Blanton and daughter and Ashley and Eddie Nichols and daughters from North Carolina.  We were blessed to spend a day of fun and worship together as well as a day of fellowship and service in La Escuelita.
We met Galen and Kelsey Mills in our first year here and are thankful for the friendship and connection that has carried through the years and very grateful to be included in their week of Guatemala ministry and have opportunity to become acquainted with their son, Oliver!
Emily Abner Greenlee (OH) is another friend made during our first year in Guatemala.  Back then we experienced many new things, made many memories, and shared tears, prayers and laughter.  Emily is now married to Derrick and a mom to Esther and together they spent Spring Break in Guatemala.  It was such a blessing for us to again share some time together and also to get to know the new members of her family.
We had opportunity last weekend to share an overnight marriage retreat for missionary couples with this couple, Susan and Luis Bautista (TX).  They translated the Growing Kids God's Way series into Spanish and their work has aided our parenting class in Spanish considerably.  We are grateful for a sweet time of sharing, encouragment and prayer!
Parenting from the Tree of Life

We have continued with teaching parenting classes using the curriculum Parenting from the Tree of Life, one class in English and one in Spanish.  Both classes have challenged us and taught us so much, as well as encouraged us once again to be intentional in our family relationships!  And teaching a class in Spanish has pushed us to study and make strides in our Spanish speaking abilities - something for which we are very grateful!

We received much encouragement at the Growing Families International conference that we attended in February.  Beside meeting and enjoying fellowship with Gary and AnneMarie Ezzo, authors of the Growing Families parenting discipleship materials, we also met with Rich and Shelley Howard whose ministry, OneFamily, faciliated the Spanish translation of the Tree of Life series that we are now using.  It was a blessing to hear the story of this translation and to realize that God had prepared it "just in time" for use by our group!!!  We came away from that conference energized and excited for how God might use and grow the ministry to parents and families not only here in Guatemala but throughout Latin America.

Our 2 classes continue to meet - now nearing the end of the second of three six-week segments.  Our english speaking class has been experiencing setbacks and challenges related to health issues of some of our members.  We appreciate your prayers for strength and healing and that we can get back at it soon!
New on the scene
We shared with you last year how Kristin had been preparing to receive foster children.  She received names and ages and then heard nothing at all for over 4 months.  In that time she followed the Lord's lead and stepped out in faith to begin teaching 7th grade.  This endeavor has taken a larger time commitment and more patience and energy than any of us imagined.  Just as she was beginning to get a handle on her school schedule she got a call about 2 little boys that needed a home of refuge right away!  We agreed to take them and so Dale and Kristin made a late night trip to Guatemala City last Saturday night to receive them, ages 1 and 4.  Due to Kristin's work schedule Dale and I have taken the bulk of the day responsibilities (with Kahtlyn's help this week as she is visiting). They have turned our hearts, home and schedules upside down and we are so grateful to be able to offer a home and family and hopefully bring joy into this trying time in their little lives
Ministry Update:
We are currently in the candidating phase with a new mission organization!  The application and interview process has been extensive and thorough as well as exciting and encouraging for both of us!  We hope that very soon we will have official news to share regarding our future affiliation.

We appreciate your prayers!!!  For those of you that are on our financial support team please continue to send support for the Beyer Family to Hope for Home Ministries.

As you think of us we ask that you pray for:
  • A (age 4) and J (age 1) and their mom
  • Health and healing for several in our parenting class
  • a good and healthy delivery for our daughter-in-law Regan (baby Weston, due April 18)
  • Anita will travel to Missouri on Monday, April 15 to be with Jacob's family as they transition from a family of 3 to a family of 4.  Pray for her travels and for Dale and Kristin as they juggle responsibilities of life, family and home in Guate during her absence.
  • Kathlyn in her final trimester of pregnancy
  • Noe as he completes his studies and requirements for his Physical Therapy degree in the next 2 months.
  • Kristin as she juggles a very heavy load with La Escuelita and being a working temporary mom
  • Dale and I and our interview and ministry transition process
  • That we will be touching hearts for eternity through La Escuelita and in the parenting discipleship classes.
We thank our God with every remembrance of each of you!!  We are honored and humbled by your interest in what God is doing in and through us in San Antonio Aguas Calientes, Guatemala!  Truly you are each part of the team and we are grateful to have so many walking the journey alongside!
By His grace and for His glory,
Dale and Anita Beyer
