Hey, babe! I'm back on maternity leave so I'm sharing my favorite Weekly Motivationals from times of yore for a while. Here's the remix of the week (I changed a few things in this one to apply to where we're at in the world right now):

I leave for Paris this week!!!

...and as excited as I am about that, I'm also deep-breathing through some not-so-nice feelings for what's going on in the health world right now.

Here it is. Ready? F**K this "Summer Body" bullshit.

I used to plug that BS back when I thought I needed to be skinnier/smarter/prettier to be enough, and I'm sorry, guys. That sucked. Now that I'm more aware that this kind of marketing feeds on low self-esteem - and validates it - I'm all:

Why I gotta change who I am, Summer? Answer is: you don't.

THIS WEEK'S INTENTION

ENOUGH WITH NEEDING
TO BE ENOUGH ALREADY

This year, shit's gonna get real for this movement we've started at Strong Inside Out. People (maybe you) are waking up to the fact that this way of peddling enough-ness like it's something you have to buy is majorly effed up.

ENOUGH with needing to be enough already:
  • Stop giving your hard-earned money to people who insult you, then tell you they can make it all ok... if you change yourself.
  • Stop torturing yourself to "fix" whatever it is you think's wrong with you.
  • Stop trying to fill the hole inside you with "good girl/boy" gold stars and realize that you don't have to conform to their standards - you have a choice!
This is the time of year when diets and weight loss programs abound, preying on the sense of "not enough"-ness that some of us feel. Make this the Summer you say "no more." Enough with needing to be enough already!

Let's wake up the world, babe. Tweet it out!

I'm with @stronginsideout - ENOUGH with needing to be enough already! I don't need to be fixed & neither do you.

So when you see sellers using not-enough marketing, stand up for yourself. 'Cause no one's allowed to talk to my friends like that.
Catch you on the flip side, baby!

Love,
Amy
