The Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office participated at the Workshop on Sustainable Management at Cultural Heritage Sites in the GMS, hosted and organized by the Department of Tourism of Thailand, in Ubon Ratchathani.

THAILAND ARRIVALS GROW 2.5%

Cambodians are increasingly travelling overseas for leisure, as the number of the Kingdom’s outbound tourists reached nearly two million last year, a trend that a tourism insider said was due to a change in spending habits of Cambodia’s middle-class.

E-VISA FOR LAOS TO GO ONLINE IN JUNE

All international visitors to Laos will be eligible to apply online for a single entry visa with a planned maximum stay of 30 days, a senior official in charge from the ministry’s Consular Department told Vientiane Times on Friday.

Kayah Manual for Tour Operators

During the past decade, the diverse political and ethnic groups of Kayah State have moved away from conflict towards greater trust, cooperation and peace. As a result, Kayah has recently opened its doors to visitors, including international tourists. Tourism is initially being developed in northwestern Kayah, around Loikaw, Demoso and Pruso townships.

2018 Experience Mekong Showcases – KOTO

KOTO is an internationally recognised and award-winning social enterprise in Vietnam which operates as a training restaurant and a vocational training centre. KOTO stands for “Know One, Teach One”, a name that reflects strongly in their core belief, values. KOTO operates two inter-connecting entities which support each other through a well-designed business model. The two parts comprise the KOTO training centre (the non-profit organisation), and the KOTO training restaurants (the social enterprise).

Cabbages and Condoms, two most unrelated items are put together in the naming of a restaurant – the Cabbages and Condoms Restaurant in Bangkok. The restaurant is run by a non profit organization – Population and Community Development Association (PDA) which focuses on family planning and AIDS/HIV prevention with Mechai Viravaidya as the mastermind behind the organization, who is also dubbed as the condom king.
The Experience Mekong Collection (EMC) curates small businesses that focus on sustainable and responsible practices to create a unique experiences for guests. Anybody can nominate businesses to be included in the Experience Mekong Collection, and an advisory board of tourism experts vets nominations for integrity and relevance. In partnership with Mahidol University, each year, one business per country (six in total) is selected to be one of the Experience Mekong Collection Showcases, with case studies to highlighting the nature and innovation of the business. Nominate your favorite small responsible business today for inclusion in the Experience Mekong Collection!
