à la une

This week's map is part of a work in progress, a booklet of maps of San Francisco and where to eat in those neighborhoods. Feedback welcome! Download it here, especially if you're looking for somewhere to have lunch in the Financial District.

1. What does it look like when you are accused of very serious drug crimes in Paris but also you sort of would make sense in Zoolander? Like this.

2. The best cheap places to eat in Paris, according to the New York Times — and it includes my top pick of all, Bouillon Pigalle, introduced to me by Sylvia Dublanc. Clip 'n' save for your next trip.

3. Speaking of eating in Paris: How about those shops that only serve one thing but serve it better than any other in the world? Like, if you really want a popelini, this is the place? Here, precisely where to get cream puffs, madeleines, and more

4. Here's Cara Delevingne (looking just thrilled) and Ashley Benson at the Moulin Rouge. Digging Cara's jacket, anyway??

5. If you like Glen Hansard you may be interested in his time in Paris and how it produced This Wild Willing

6. If you are sad because it's time to get a tan but obviously you don't want to get a tan because it's so bad for you — I'm generally not a Chanel fan-person but their fake tanner (LOL also known as "Chanel l'Eau Tan") really does work

7. Another look into a rich person's apartment, hurrah! TBH: 🤷‍♀️I don't get this one, except for that ridiculous view. In better French housing news, rent control is back! I can't think of another reason why a 1BR in Paris is 50% (or less) the cost of a 1BR in San Francisco. I'm not a socialist but I sure don't mind some socialist-y things here and there, like libraries and health insurance and rental caps.

A la prochaine,
Diana
