Volume 1. Number 2.  April 12 , 2019.
It's Scout and her human, Jasper Colt.

The Week That Was: Rest in Power, Rarities and Led Zep Reactions

Wait, I spent how much money??

On Deck: It's Record Store Day, Peoples

  • How time flies. It seems like we just had a Record Store Day last year.
  • As we have done in the past, this week's shows will feature our listeners telling tales of RSD and the fresh slabs o' wax they scored from their local shop.
  • Patrick will be heading a little farther afield than usual for his purchases and rumor has it that Jim might be... record shopping at the mall?
  • So as soon as you finish reading this, get yourself to bed and rest up for tomorrow — and next week's shows, where all will be revealed.

Wayback Machine: The Ghost of Record Store Days Past

  • While you're counting the minutes until Monday's new episode drops, check our previous Tales from Record Store Day episodes.
  • In 2018, episodes 335 through 339 were focused on RSD. And we did some more in episode 362.
  • Back in the salad days of 2017, it was episode 81 when the listener tales from RSD first kicked off. 82, 83 and 84 had 'em too. Can you say Sgt. Barry Sadler?

What We're Listening To:

  • Sam: Jake and The Nowhere Men - “We Are Robots”
  • Matt: Calexico and Iron & Wine - "Father Mountain"
  • John: Old 97's - "Timebomb"
  • Jim: The Breeders - “Last Splash”
  • Sami: Crosby, Stills and Nash - "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes"
  • Patrick: Aldous Harding - "Right Down the Line"

Last But Certainly Not Least: It's the RTS New Release Corner!

All these titles are out today, April 12.

The Budos Band – V (Daptone): The fifth album (hence the title) from this New York instrumental soul outfit, with hints of Afrobeat and metal this time out.

Fontaines D.C. – Dogrel (Partisan): A poetic debut album from this
Irish post-punk band.

Glen Hansard – This Wild Willing (Plateau/Anti): The Irish singer known for his work in the Frames and the movie Once releases his fourth album as just Glen Hansard. That’s all you need.

Norah Jones – Begin Again (Blue Note): The jazz-pop singer collects singles she has released over the past year, including a collaboration with Jeff Tweedy.

Damien Jurado – In the Shape of a Storm (Mama Bird): The Seattle indie stalwart finally puts to record – in a two-hour session — a bunch of odds-and-sods songs he had written throughout his career.

Anderson .Paak – Ventura (Aftermath/12 Tone): A mere six months after Oxnard, this California hip hop/R&B master is crushing it again.

Shovels & Rope – By Blood (Dualtone): Charleston SC’s husband-and- wife team of Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst inject some aggression in their take on Americana.
