New! Natural Heritage Walk for Secondary Students

While exploring the Garden to meet iconic trees and ancient plants, students will think about how our interaction with the land changes over time, space, and culture – including the important perspectives of First Peoples.  This 45 minute guided program is offered Monday-Saturday throughout the year.

Pollinator Days
June 12-14, 2019

Bee on the lookout for Pollinator Days - our annual field trip festival! Students will explore the special relationships between plants, pollinators, and people at their own pace. This year, we're promoting sustainable transit by offering discounted rates.

International Debates, Youth Conference, and Essay Competition

The VBGA is proud to be on the Host Committee of the 9th Annual International School Debates! Youth from all over the world will come together to discuss young people’s role in conserving Life on Land.

 

Essay Competition: Due May 13th

Students (ages 7-17) in BC are still able to submit (400 or 600 word) essays on why young people are key to achieving UN Sustainable Development Goal #15: To conserve and sustainably manage life on land. This is a necessary step in participating in the full program.

International Debate, Youth Conference, and Educational Excursions: July 8-12, 2019

Register by May 31st, 2019
 

This incredible 5 day event takes place in Victoria and Vancouver at the Government House, Songhees Longhouse, and VanDusen Botanical Garden. Keynote speakers include David Suzuki, Elizabeth May, and Vicky Husband. With diverse workshops and educational field trips, the International Debates is an opportunity not to be missed!

Vancouver Bird Week 2019

The VBGA is proud to be a part of Vancouver Bird Week 2019! This city-wide event aims to educate and inspire local communities to recognize the importance of birds in our surrounding environment. Learn and discover more at our Bird Week Events!

Free Monthly Bird Walk: New Time!
Saturday May 11th, 9am - 11am

Join local birder Jeremy Gordon for a guided birding exploration in the Garden. Meet in the Visitor Centre Atrium. This event takes place rain or shine.

Free for Members or with Garden Admission. 40 participant limit, first come first served. More here.

The Birds of Bloedel Conservatory
Sunday, May 12th, 11am - 3pm

Bring the whole family to explore over 200 tropical birds at Bloedel Conservatory for this special Vancouver Bird Week event. The VBGA will have an interactive bird discovery station where you can take a closer look at the functions of a feather, learn what makes a bird unique, and so much more!

Registration not required and regular admission rates apply.
