Cross-Cultural and Generational Diversity

Today’s successful workplaces are built on creativity and innovation by enabling diversity as an important factor of HR strategy.

Labour trends show companies are making greater investments in inclusionary initiatives to bring on more underrepresented groups. The job-top sharing role is clearly a work model that proves best practices- facilitating inclusion of this high potential labour force to make a significant impact (gender balanced, multiply generations, diverse culture and mind-sets).

In our ever-changing connected global world differences in the workplace are now mainstream. Thus, our complex yet integrated work environment needs multicultural collaborators to succeed.

The multi-cultural job sharers master a wide range of cross national understandings. They are able to cooperate in a context of greater diversity and adaptability. This adds significant value for all business partners. Mixed backgrounds and educational history give the ‘duo team’ a broader platform in terms of cross-cultural understanding and openness to different types of nationalities, colleagues and working habits.

Job sharing is an efficient team-oriented model which allows diversity and inclusion not only from a multi-cultural aspect but also from an inter-generational dimension. An article from Harvard Business Review  provides additional insights: "Managing People from 5 Generations" notes: "For the first time in history, five generations will soon be working side by side.  But whether this multi-generational workplace feels satisfied and productive is, in large part, up to you: the leader."

In spite of challenges it may impose, managing diversity at work should be everyone's business. Whether it be age, nationality, belief systems or career discipline benefits can be achieved. When working efficiently it can even enhance the bottom line if supported by executive leadership and management.

Please feel free to contact us if you need advice or support to promote the implementation of the job sharing model on an individual or broader scale, see our services and contact us at: info@go-for-jobsharing.ch
