Welcome to my new readers!  Here, I share about my experiences in Israel and with the Jewish people and how all of it has completely changed and enriched my life in ways unimaginable. For those just joining us, I would point you to this newsletter, Destination Jerusalem, to give you a little background of how this all started. 

What does chocolate mousse have to do with Passover?

As a Christian, I grew up celebrating the traditional Easter holiday.  But about 15 years ago I was invited to a Seder and learned about Passover being one of the Lord's Feasts and how that one miraculous event, brought through the Jewish people, was the original story of redemption from slavery into a life of freedom.  When I began digging into the bible to learn about Passover, there it was, smack dab in writing. See Exodus 12 for starters. 

Then there is Leviticus...“And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, speak unto the children of Israel and say unto them, concerning the feasts of The Lord, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.” Leviticus 23: 1-2

The Passover story of being set free is the foundation, the very core of my faith. I am so thankful for the Jewish people and Judaism, without it, there would be no Christianity.  I have a debt of gratitude to the Jewish people for being a light to the nations, teaching me there is so much more.  

"do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root {Israel} supports you.” Romans 11:18

My faith is firmly and forever rooted in Judaism, after all, Jesus was a practicing Jew, which (ashamedly) used to be such a foreign statement to me until I started digging deeper. Man oh man, were my eyes opened! 

But what does chocolate mousse have to do with Passover? I thought you would never ask, ha!

No matter how you celebrate freedom from slavery and being redeemed by our most compassionate, loving and everlasting God, I wish you a Happy Passover or Happy Easter!

P.S. In current events: Israel went to the moon last week. Their unmanned spacecraft was named Bereshit (bear-uh-sheet) which means “Genesis” or “in the beginning”.  It actually had a crash landing, but they made it long enough to take this selfie before the crash. If you've ever driven in Israel, then you know crash landings are perfectly normal...lol. 

In true Israeli spirit, the Israeli space team is already gearing up for another attempt. This is what I love about the Israelis...they NEVER give up! They always look for the solution and find the work around.  I’ve said it a million times...there is no other country or people group that is as innovative and inspiring as the Israelis.
