Children’s Ministry Training - We will again be part of a children’s ministry training event hosted by the Anglican diocese of Tasmania via livestream, Monday 8th April 7pm at Joel & Lyn’s.
Storytime! Bible stories have long been a staple of children’s ministry, but how can we use stories intentionally for the spiritual formation of children? We’ll think theologically about stories, and how story-telling shapes our overall aims and practices of children’s ministry.In light of that theology, we’ll look at some practical methods of storytelling with children. The training will be led by Graham Stanton, who directs the Ridley College Centre for Children’s and Youth Ministry in Melbourne.
Sydney Missionary Bible College Children’s Conference – SMBC hold a high quality annual children’s ministry conference that last year we sent Lyn, Karen & Dianne to attend. This year instead of flying folk to Sydney we have arranged for the conference to be live streamed to us. It will be held on Saturday May 4th 9:00 – 15:30. We will be streaming it from Joel & Lyn’s place. I think this would be of high value to attend for all of our Kids Church leaders and for anyone else who might be interested. You do need to register for this event, please speak to Lyn for more info.
Kids Church Craft Prep – On Saturday 20th April 9-12pm folk will be meeting at church to prepare the craft activities for Term 2 of Kids Church. Many hands make light work, so if you are at all handy with a pair of scissors it would be great to see you there.
Easter Services – This month we will be remembering (of course we ought to do this all of the time) the death of our saviour and his glorious resurrection. There will be several opportunities to come to services over this season and can I recommend that you take advantage of this season to speak openly of your faith and to invite along some of your friends and families to hear more about what Jesus has done for us.
Church Together Circular Head – On Thursday 18th, 7pm for a 7:30pm start at the Christian School there will be a combined churches service.
Good Friday @ the Nut – The annual combined churches Good Friday service will go ahead again this year, 10:30 at the base of the Nut.
Easter Sunday – We will be celebrating Resurrection Sunday both at Stanley and Smithton this year. In Smithton our kids will be singing an item ‘He Lives’ by Colin Buchanan. Please be praying that many folk will use this season as an opportunity to invite friends to know more about Jesus and that they will be welcomed into our community.
Nankervises Away – We will be taking our own form of an Easter break this year, heading off after our Easter Sunday service and returning the following Tuesday 30th April.
