NSUMC Fellowship Committee

Chicago Church Bus Tour - Last Day to RSVP!

The NSUMC Fellowship Committee would like to invite you to join us on Saturday September 14th.  The Chicago Architecture Center is offering a tour of Chicago churches by bus.  It begins at 10:30 am at the Chicago Architecture Center at 111 E. Wacker Drive.  It is a 6-hour tour of some of Chicago’s finest, historic churches, most of which are rarely open to the public.
This year’s stops have not been finalized yet but here is a sample of the sacred spaces featured on 2018's tour:

  • Saint Barbara Roman Catholic Church. 1910, Worthmann & Steinbach. Renaissance style.
  • St. Mary of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church. 1892, Joseph Engelbert. Romanesque style.
  • Monastery of the Holy Cross (formerly Immaculate Conception Church). 1909, Hermann Gaul & Albert Fischer. Gothic style.
  • First Lutheran Church of the Trinity. 1913, Worthmann & Steinbach. Gothic style.
  • All Saints - St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church. 1915, Henry Schlacks. Romanesque style.
  • Ling Shen Ching Tze Buddhist Temple (formerly Emmanuel Presbyterian Church). 1894, Burnham & Root. Romanesque style.

The cost is $54.00 for non-members and $47.00 for members.  I will be able to use the discounted price.  This tour is only offered once a year and tends to sell out very quickly.  Because of that we are asking that you let Scott know if you are interested in attending by the end of the day today, Tuesday, April 9th.

For additional information please call Scott at 847-828-4400 or email him!
