9:30AM Check-in

10:00AM-12:00PM No Pain, ALL GAIN Workshop

We will examine anatomy for any musician and discuss muscle function in playing. You will learn fun warm ups and stretches that you can incorporate with your students during their lessons or orchestra classes. Performance anxiety issues will also be addressed.

LUNCH

1:00PM Breath Your Way to Better Playing

String players are notorious for not breathing during performance. We will learn how to incorporate the breath in playing and learn how it can elevate your performance for a more musical and natural presentation. Bring your instruments for this session and be prepared to play a short excerpt.

2:00PM Teaching Practicum

3:30PM Etude Examination

Confused about what etudes to teach when? We will go through several of the standard etude books to discuss the purpose of each etude, when to teach it, and how. Which etudes cause tension and why? Always had troubles with double stops? Find out why. Please bring etude books that you would like to discuss.

4:00 PM        Wrap-up/Q&A
