National Volunteer Week

National Volunteer Week is a time across the country to honor volunteers and recognize the irreplaceable impact of their time and energy all year round. We appreciate all our  volunteers and their selfless contributions. Thank You! Go Tigers!

Student Registration for 2019-20 Classes

Current 6th and 7th graders will be choosing class choices for next school year in the coming week.  Students will be able to choose Band, Choir, Orchestra, Making-Music or a new class called Creative Expression for their music hour.  They will also have the opportunity to express interest in the AVID elective class in 6th,7th,8th grade and 8th Grade Spanish 1.

 

Goat Drive

Thank you All! Go Tigers!! As a result of generous contributions made during the goat drive by several students,staff, and families we were able to raise $300.  We will be able to provide 6 goats for 6 women farmers in Ghana. WE ACT students send their many thanks to all who participated!!
 

Statewide Severe Weather Drill

All buildings will participate in their severe weather drill when the local sirens go off on Thursday, April 11 at 1:45 p.m.

Our Community

Student of Month & Academic Achievers Breakfast

CLICK HERE to see the program and names of students honored at the Student of the Month and Academic Achievers breakfast this past Thursday.  There were smiles all around, students and families, as we celebrated the students’ hard work in Trimester 2!

 

School Spirit

Mr. Fimrite and Mr.Froelich taped to the wall by students for a school spirit challenge. Go Tigers!

 

South Family Night

2019 Thursday, April 9

South Jr. High Family Night

5:00-6:30 pm

MCA and STAR testing-what it means for your child and how you can help them prepare. (Media Center)

  • There will be an question and answer  regarding MCA and STAR tests. Practical tips on how to help  your child be prepared will be offered.  

AVID strategies for college and career readiness in the areas of math and literacy. (Theater)

  • Demonstrating AVID strategies for use with both math and literacy  You will learn some of the strategies your children are using in class as well as the importance of note-taking and how to use those notes.  

Take home activity

  • Receive a family friendly activity to play at home.

 

After-School Programs

Homework Club After School

The homework club will be available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:25-4:30.  Students should be in room 177 by 3:25pm and need to have a ride

coordinated to pick them up at door #7.  There will be 2 tutors in the room to help students each day.

The Homework club offers a place for students to complete assignments or study in a supportive environment after school.

Requirements: Students must have homework and be referred to the club by a Teacher or Staff.

Students must follow program expectations concerning fostering a quiet environment.

Location: room 177 (on the south side of the building, near door 4)

Time: 3:20-4:25 pm every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Transportation is not provided for this program. Students will need to get picked up by 4:30 or walk home after homework club.   Students need to exit the building at doors 4,5 or 7. Parents need to pick up their students outside door 7.
