A friend just texted me: “I never think I have seasonal depression until the first day it feels like spring and my whole being feels happier.” Couldn’t have said it better.
The weird thing is that I start singing peppy songs to myself (which nobody but me enjoys) and of late the song I keep singing is “Just hear those sleigh bells jingle-ing, ring-ting tingle-ing too, come on, its lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you.” What the . . . I have no explanation for this. But if you pass me as I move through the city with my bags filled with spring produce, you might hear a few bars of Neil Diamond’s evergreen Christmas song coming from my spring-cheered soul. We won’t even discuss the fact that I’m Jewish. Anyway, onwards! I’m running towards spring with open arms.
This month, try this Simple Vegetarian Spring Pasta Salad. Having a good pasta salad in your repertoire is a beautiful thing. It’s a delicious centerpiece to a picnic, potluck, or buffet.
