Governance in the Emerging World: Health and the Environment
Hoover Institution
Hauck Auditorium, David & Joan Traitel Building, Hoover Institution
Mon, April 8, 4-5:15PM PST

The changing environment is introducing new health risks and challenges alongside an increasingly interconnected world. Stanford University, Bechtel International Center, 584 Capistrano Way
Tues, April 9, 12-1PM PST

What should journalists do? Should they uncover the truth, or help people make better decisions? Or do they give a voice to the unheard? And what is the journalist’s job in countries that don’t have a First Amendment protecting them? Speaker Venkatesh makes the provocative case that journalism’s core mission ought to be seen differently in different parts of the world, and that US journalism schools and fellowships are not sufficiently geared to the needs of journalists around the world. Advanced Aquaculture Collaborative Programs
Application Deadline: April 15, 2019

The National Sea Grant Office anticipates at least $9,000,000 will be available to support the establishment of collaborative programs to build the capacity of Sea Grant and its partners to advance aquaculture in areas where a foundation of knowledge and activity currently exists but where significant barriers to sustainable domestic marine and Great Lakes aquaculture remain. These collaborative programs will serve as geographic or topic-based hubs for fully integrated, transdisciplinary research, outreach, and education that will provide broad, non-proprietary support and investment for building and/or enhancing an aquaculture industry. More info here.

Marine Aquaculture & Experimentation Fellowship
Application Deadline: May 1, 2019
This research project develops and applies standard and novel approaches that integrate biological, physiological and molecular information from living organisms to predict the ecological risks to marine and aquatic resources of human-mediated stressors. Under the guidance of the mentor, the research participant will have the opportunity to be involved in field and laboratory studies that generate data to advance our understanding of how stressors, including toxic chemicals, affect the fitness of individual organisms and their populations in the aquatic and marine environment. More info here.

Graduate Equity Fellowship (MLML-SJSU Students Only)
