May News from the Foster-Powell Neighborhood Association

Hello neighbors,

Event season has started off with a BANG! - the sound of tons of garbage hitting the side and bottom of dumpsters. The annual Neighborhood Cleanup was a great success under the new leadership of Reed and Nadja. If ya missed the fun, our next big event will be Paint the Town Green on June 1st (psst! we're looking for volunteers).

During our May general meeting we will be hearing from Marc Jolin from the Joint Office on Homeless Services about the proposed Lilac Meadows Family Shelter. We will also be hearing about ways to Help Oregon's Foster Youth from OR DHS/Child Welfare, Carrie Boatright and others. It's also time to let YOUR voice be heard in the 2019-2020 FPNA Board Elections. It's a great opportunity to help decide what projects you want to champion and help empower one another to make the community even more vibrant and create the change you want to see.

You have so many upcoming volunteer opportunities to help make our area even better in the upcoming year. It's so easy to join onto an existing event to get started making that change!
The daily work - that goes on, it adds up.
~ Barbara Kingsolver
Hope to see you there,
Eric Furlong
Chair, Foster-Powell Neighborhood Association

12th Annual Foster-Powell Garden Tour
Foster-Powell (map will be published once finalized)
As always, this is a free and family-friendly event. Gardens on the tour have a variety of aesthetics and are guaranteed to provide inspiration. It’s also a great way to get out and meet your neighbors. On the day of the tour, you will be able to pick up a copy of the map from either the Holgate Library or the Foster-Powell Community Garden. We will also post a link to the map here once it is finalized. First though, we need YOUR garden! See this post for details and to sign-up to be on the tour.
