GYM NEWS

Premier Fit Newsletter April 11th

Hey everyone,

Another busy week down in the gym with everyone working hard to get ready for the summer. You may see if you follow the gym’s social media pages on Facebook and Instagram some incredible photography over the next few weeks. A young club member Ella Cuddihy has been down taking these brilliant photos, showing off how hard the members work and showing our gym in its best light.

Unfortunately we are saying goodbye to Patrick Nolan from the gym this week, he is a little busier on the tennis courts coaching and playing up a storm out there. We will still be dragging him in for the odd workout to keep him match fit, but it is a sad goodbye he was a great addition to the gym team and we would like to thank him for his time on staff.

We are undergoing planning for a fitness contest in the gym “Sutton’s fittest member” (date and details to be confirmed) but we will be working to get some great prizes. It will be separated into a few categories, so all ages and fitness levels are welcome. Tough workouts will be done on the day to test the limits of your cardio fitness, strength and endurance. There will events that will suit some of you better than others and visa versa.

Best way to get prepared is be great on a rowing machine, get moving some kettlebells, get you core strength up and get practicing your burpees. So really the best preparation is to get into a variety of our tough yet fun classes.

A little taster workout that a few classes have done in the passed few weeks(and one of our instructors Hannah) is called “Coyote” ;

15 kettle-bell swings
8 kettle-bell squats
3 walkouts
X 20 (for a beginner try 8 times)

As fast as you can, currently the record is about 19 minutes with a 16kg kettle-bell by one of our stronger(and female) consistent class goers.

(if you want to try it out come down to the gym and get Matt to make sure your technique is on point before you start it, and very important do a cardio and mobility warm up before attempting)

All the best from the gym team, have another great week and enjoy the sunshine.
