Mia’s outstanding essay entitled “Bring Them Home” appeals to the Israeli Knesset to bring all the 8000 Jews still in Ethiopia to Israel. In her essay, Mia describes that the Ethiopian Jews desperately want to come to Israel as they consider it their “home”.

Getting Ready for Passover!
Gan Shelanu Preschool students enjoyed a flurry of Passover activities this week. They dressed as Israelite slaves and recreated the Exodus; rolled over 150 matzoh balls to add to their chicken soup; chopped dozens of apples to make charoset; whipped up 25 batches of macaroons; created special Haggadot to use at their families’ Seders; and that was just the beginning! Wishing everyone a happy, healthy Passover!

Join J-Pride and Adath Jeshurun’s Keruv committee for a screening of The Infamous T, a documentary following the story of a local 18 year old participant in Avenues for Homeless Youth’s GLBT Host Home Program. We’ll spend the evening watching the documentary, learning about LGBTQIA+ housing and community, and discussing creating safer and more accessible LGBTQIA+ spaces within the Jewish community. Weekly Torah Portion: Passover
Every week, JTS (Jewish Theological Seminary) sends out new commentaries created by their faculty, students and staff.
In this Torah portion, Moses instructs the elders of Israel in all of the laws of Passover. All generations to come are to observe the Passover traditions. In addition, the children of succeeding generations are to be instructed at Passover as to the origin and significance of the festival.
The Torah reading concludes with the last of the 10 plagues: the slaying of the Egyptian firstborn. Pharaoh summons Moses and Aaron and tells them that he wants them out of Egypt as soon as possible. Moses and Aaron comply, and the children of Israel begin to make a quick exit, not allowing time for their bread to rise.
