2019 Harrity Women's Workshop

Harrity is excited to host our second annual Women’s Workshop.  A select group of women will participate in a 3-day long program geared towards an introduction to the practice of patent law.  This program will take place during the week of May 20-22, 2019 and is open to science and engineering students, law school students, and recent graduates.

Applications are due by 4/30/2019.  Early submissions are encouraged.

Men of Color Summit

Representation matters, and the representation of men of color in the law field are disproportionately low. Join us at the Men of Color Summit to connect with leaders and upcoming legal professionals and discuss issues facing men of color in the legal field. The Summit will help provide mentorship and community support to give men of color the resources they need to grow and prosper in the law field.

Public Interest Fellowship

Application deadline: April 15, 2019
 

SABA-DC provides financial assistance in the form of summer fellowships to law students working at public interest organizations in the metropolitan D.C. area. The primary purpose of the fellowship is to help fund a student’s internship with a public interest organization for the benefit of the South Asian community and the metropolitan D.C. area. SABA-DC has provided grants up to $7,500 per fellow in past years, and sponsors several fellows every year.

Shapiro Public Interest Fellowships

Application deadline: April 30, 2019

Professor Jonathan Turley is accepting applications for Shapiro Public Interest Fellows for the summer and the 2019 – 2020 school year. The grants can range from $2,500 to $25,000 per term. Larger grants are possible if warranted in extraordinary cases. Students may apply for a grant for research or advocacy or support in areas of public interest law. This can include legislative, litigation, or community education projects. It may also include unpaid work associated with public interest organizations, though preference is given to work for specific projects rather than staff positions with such organizations. Work for prosecution, public defender, or law firm offices, or state or federal agencies will not be accepted. There is also a position available as coordinator for the Project for Older Prisoners (POPS).

The grants can be for a term or multiple terms, depending on the project.

Students should send a cover letter explaining their proposed work, their resumes, and most recent transcripts to Professor Jonathan Turley (jturley@law.gwu.edu) and his assistant Seth Tate (state@law.gwu.edu). Applications are due April 30.

William P. Butterfield Award for Excellence in eDiscovery Writing

Application deadline: June 1, 2019

Hausfeld LLP and the Sedona Conference® announce the second annual William P. Butterfield Award for Excellence in eDiscovery Writing. This award is presented annually to recognize and incentivize innovative legal thinking, independent research, and technical solutions that advance the field of eDiscovery and promote cooperation, collaboration and efficiency in eDiscovery. Award benefits include recognition in a national news release and a $10,000 cash award.

2020 Baker Donelson Diversity Scholarship

Application deadline: June 16, 2019

The 2020 Baker Donelson Diversity Scholarship application is now available!  The firm will award three scholarships to three diverse rising 2L law students who will complete their first year of law school by June 2019. Recipients will be awarded a six-week, salaried 2L Summer Associate position for the summer of 2020 in one of our Firm’s offices. Additionally, each recipient will be awarded $10,000, which will be paid prior to the student’s third year of law school, to help defray the cost of law school tuition and related expenses.

Norton Rose Fulbright Diversity Fellowship Program

Application deadline: July 5, 2019

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright is pleased to announce that it has established a new diversity fellowship for a second-year law student that will provide a $10,000 scholarship for tuition and related expenses.

The Norton Rose Fulbright 2L Diversity Fellowship recipient also would be a paid summer associate in our Dallas office who would participate in the Summer Associate Academy, training sessions and social and professional events and spend part of the summer working off-site at Toyota Motor North America, a firm client.

Throughout the summer, numerous diversity job fairs are hosted throughout the country. Employers participating in these fairs are typically interested in recruiting diverse students for summer 2020 opportunities. Many of these fairs are focused on a particular geographic market.
