FUNDRAISING - OPEN

Thank you so much to current VP Sherry Shannon who is leaving us for a year!  Your many hours of time and volunteering are sincerely appreciated!

OPEN POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

Fundraising Chair - Each year we need to do some sort of fundraising efforts to improve things around our school as well as support all of the important programs and events that the PTO does.  The fundraising chair will help us to decide which fundraiser to have for the 19-20 school year as well as facilitate it.

Daddy/Daughter Dance - The chair of the Daddy/Daughter dance will be in charge of coordinating the details of the event which is usually held in late Jan or early Feb.   Grab a couple of friends and coordinate a great evening for the girls.
TALENT SHOW
Prairieview's talent show is Friday, April 12th at 7pm.

We have 10 great acts performing including singing, dancing, instruments, and even some karate moves!

Admission is free, however donations are welcome and will be given to the library to purchase new books.

It should be a great evening to see our talented students perform.  Concessions will be available for purchase.
SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE
Prairieview offers a scholarship to high school seniors that attended Prairieview for at least 3 years.  We pay $500 a year for 4 years pending the student grades.  We have a great group of applicants to choose from this year. We are looking for anyone who is willing to sit in on two different meetings to help us decide on a winner.   You will be given student applications and essays to review. A meeting is held to discuss between the committee members who should advance to the interview round.  The second meeting will be listening to the finalist's presentations and choosing a winner.  It is a very interesting process and you get to hear presentations from some very talented students.  If you are interested in hearing more about this committee please contact Kate Sax at katesax@gmail.com
SPRING BOOK FAIR
Our spring book fair will be held the week of April 22nd - April 26th.  This is our BOGO event.  Family night will be on Thursday, April 25th from 6-9pm and will also coincide with this year's science fair.  Mark your calendars to come on out and buy some books and check out the science fair projects.  Students will also have the opportunity to shop during the school day.  We will be looking for volunteers soon to help and for some donations for our teacher preview breakfast.  Keep an eye out for more information coming home soon.
SCHOLASTIC CASH
We don't make any money during our book fairs, however, we do get scholastic cash depending on how successful our fairs are.  The PTO can use the scholastic cash to buy things for the school out of a special catalog.  With our current balance we just purchased a wobble stool for each teacher in the school.  The teachers are using them as incentives and for those students who are having trouble sitting still during class.  They have been a huge hit!  One of our teachers told us they are like magic and help the students focus better.  It takes all their fidgety energy and focuses it on something else so their brains can focus on their school work.  We are also working with the librarian to purchase some comfy furniture for the library for the kids to use while reading.  Stay tuned!
SCHOOL SUPPLY KITS
The PTO gives an option every year for someone to do your school supply shopping for you for the fall!  Order forms will be going home in the next week.  All you need to do is choose the grade kit you need and send in a check or pay online by 5/2.  We will have a pickup date of 5/21.  Come during the designated hours and pick up all of your child's school supplies for next year and save yourself hours of shopping time!
TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK
Teacher appreciation week is May 6th - May 10th.  More information on how you can make your teachers's feel special that week will be coming home soon.  The PTO will also be providing some special events for them.  Stay tuned!
MOM/SON NIGHT
This year's mother/son event is bowling.  Mark your calendar for May 9th.  More information will be available as the date gets closer.
TEACHER RETIREMENTS
We are losing 3 great staff members at the end of the school year to retirement.  Join us after school on May 23rd to celebrate them and wish them well.
Mrs. Hancock
Mrs. Hamil
Mrs. Morton
FAMILY EATS
Family eats has already brought us $1,550.10!

Friday, April 5th - Friday, April 12th - Chili's
Dine in at any of the Bloomingdale, Streamwood, or St. Charles locations and 15% of your pre-tax purchase will benefit PV.

Stay tuned for more events.

SHOPAROO
Download the Shoparoo app today!  Such an easy way to earn money for our school by only snapping pictures of receipts.  We currently have 26 people using it and we already earned $92 for our school in six months.  Imagine what that number could be if more people started using it!  We could get a really nice check at the beginning of next year.  More details can be found on the app!
AMAZON SMILE
Did you know that you can donate money to Prairieview just by doing your normal shopping at Amazon?  Once you sign up you shop at www.smile.amazon.com and a portion of most things you purchase will be given back to our school!
SHUTTERFLY
Do you use Shutterfly or Tiny Prints to order photos or cards?  We have just paired up with them for fundraising.  For all purchases using our Prairieview Storefront as described below, Shutterfly will give us back 13% of all sales!

To order:
  • Go to www.prairieview.shutterflystorefront.com
  • Click on Shop Shutterfly or Shop Tiny Prints
  • You will be sent to your normal sign in screen to complete your purchase.

The great part about this partnership is that you can share the storefront with your friends and family that also order from Shutterfly and all the 13% will benefit our school!
POP TOPS
Did you know that we collect Pop Tops for the Ronald McDonald House Charity?  There is a collection box in the foyer across from the door to the office.  Save them and bag them and send them in with your kids.  In year's past we have collected over 60 lbs of pop tops!  Let's give back to the community!
