Problem Solving:
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Problem solving is a basic skill required to run a successful business, not just to maintain compliance.  When a strong problem-solving process is applied correctly (The Good), it uncovers the underlying causes of the problem. This creates a plan to eliminate the cause or greatly reduce the chance of its occurrence.  Without a structured approach, problem solving becomes a random series of events that create actions that do little to prevent the problems recurrence (The Bad).  Unstructured attempts to solve problems usually generate solutions that focus more on blame and punishment (The Ugly).

Our presentation will look at traditional problem solving and highlight some of the flaws and traps built when using the process.  It will show how the outcome of this process and how it impacts the people involved.  We will transition into the first step of structured problem solving, properly defining the problem.  Once the problem is defined, a simple and logical process follows to identify the systemic causes found under the surface.  Finally known causes are used to create an action plan.

The presenters are a team of seasoned quality professionals with over 100 collective years of experience in a variety of industrial settings.  The focus will be to introduce real world examples to support your understanding.

Our team consists of:

Attention All Members with ASQ Certification

Effective January 1, 2019 all ASQ recertification will be done via an on-line journal (https://asq.org/cert/myru) . ASQ's new online recertification portal is user-friendly and secure.  This new process will reduce recertification cycle time to 5-7 business days from weeks and insure your personal data is secure.  The journal is maintained in real-time and has a dashboard for your RUs.  Scanned images of training can be dragged to the journal and will archive your complete document history.  When the journal is ready, it is submitted by selection the Recertify Now button.

If you need assistance getting started with your online journal, please reach out to a member of our leadership team.
