Prayer
Lord God,
You loved this world so much,
That you gave your one and only Son,
That we might be called your children too.
Lord, help us to live in the gladness and grace
Of Easter everyday.
Let us have hearts of thankfulness
For your sacrifice.
Let us have eyes that look upon
Your grace and rejoice in our salvation.
Help us to walk in that mighty grace
And tell your good news to the world.
All for your glory do we pray, Lord, Amen.
Catherine and Marcellin…Pray for us.

Principal's Report

MERCY CAMPUS FETE
The Mercy P&F can be very proud of their efforts over the last few months in organising an outstanding and successful Community Fete.
We were blessed with fabulous weather ensuring that the day commenced in a great community spirit with a large crowd of visitors.
We are extremely grateful to Mr Dale McAtee for his hard work and coordination of this inaugural event.
Thanks also to the following parents who took responsibility to coordinate a stall: Susie McAtee, Sharon Coughlan, Amanda Pierce, Emma Gillett, Katrina Catalano, Catherine Carmody, Carmel Sutton, Rob and Tanya Musitano, Jane Schubert, Kate Kelly, Cindy Power, Narelle Porter, Claire Crump, Meg Cornwall, Angela Kietzmann, Marina McCosker, Belinda Musitano, Danielle Forrest, Natasha Shields and Tracy Ritchie.
We also appreciate the generosity of the Lions team who worked so hard on the sausage sizzle and the many parent, student and staff helpers who assisted the stall coordinators and with the set up and clean up.
Our thanks also to Mr Brendan Kelly who spent the whole day at the Fete as our MC and did a marvellous job, and to the many students and community groups who provided entertainment throughout the day.
While an official final total for the event is not available as we still have some costs to be reimbursed, at this stage the Fete has raised about $15,000.
This is a massive effort which will go a long way to providing resources for our future gymnasium.

MARIST BASKETBALL CARNIVAL
Our girls team has had a successful carnival after a shaky start, winning the grand final of the Plate event. Unfortunately, the boys team were not as successful, coming up against very experienced teams.
Congratulations to all students on their wonderful fighting spirit, persevering throughout the entire carnival.

ATHLETICS CARNIVALS
All students are to be commended on their very sporting participation at the Mercy and Marist carnivals.
Congratulations to our champion athletes on their wonderful efforts and to the Mercy Marcellin house and the Marist Xavier house on winning their respective carnivals.
See the results further in this newsletter.

PLANNING FOR 2020
As mentioned last week, Bunbury Catholic College will become two separate schools from Term 1, 2020.
As we make progress on this change we will update the Hub to keep our community informed of the changes.
You can access the Hub at https://connect.cewa.edu.au/BCC .
The first action required is to apply for registration of the Mercy campus as a separate school.
In order to make this application we must have a new name for the school.
Please submit your suggestion on the Hub or in the suggestion box in the office at the Mercy campus.

Best wishes for a relaxing break and a blessed Easter to all.

God bless

Mercy Campus

Three in a row for Marcellin
Marcellin's name remained the only one on the Mercy athletics trophy after the yellow house claimed Monday's carnival victory.
It is the third straight year Marcellin has won the trophy, after the first separate carnival was held in 2017.
They finished nearly 400 points clear of the opposition after a successful carnival, which took place beneath sunny skies.
There were lots of standout performances and a number of carnival records broken.

Staff vs Students soccer
A big crowd of students gathered on Wednesday to watch their peers play against the Mercy campus staff in a friendly soccer game.
The students had won last year's game in Term 4 but it was the staff who came out victorious this time, winning a penalty shootout after a late goal levelled the scores.

Marist Campus

Xavier victorious in Marist athletics
Xavier won their second straight Marist athletics carnival, posting a big victory over the other houses yesterday.
The red house finished well ahead of McAuley and Valentine, who had won five carnivals in a row prior to Xavier's win last year.
Marcellin finished fourth but claimed the Panda Award for the best participation and house spirit.

"The award winners announced at the Marist Athletics Carnival on Thursday were announced without the calculation of points accrued from all of the track events run on the day (100m, 200m and 400m).
This was an error on the day due to the use of new software, however, should have been checked before making the presentations.
Students affected by this change of result were notified as soon as possible on Friday morning.
I apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused and we will be working hard to ensure all students receive the correct awards."
Mr Travis McGuire, Director of Sport

Girls win Plate in successful carnival
Congratulations to our girls touring team who defeated Trinity College Beenleigh 46-38 yesterday to win the Plate final at the Marist Basketball Carnival in Bendigo.
The girls played against strong schools in the pool matches and lost all three on the opening day.
There were still many positives from the opening day as the girls showed some significant improvements in implementing what they have been taught over the past six months, with all players now having a better understanding of what it takes to compete at this level.
Day two started with another loss before wins over Trinity Catholic College (47-17) and Trinity College Beenleigh (49-28) meant we finished fifth in the group.
The girls' improvement continued on day three in the Plate competition.
A big 47-19 win over St Teresa's Catholic College Noosaville was followed by a 41-27 win over Cardijn College which meant we qualified for the grand final.
In a match which was live streamed on the internet enabling parents to tune in, our girls recorded their second win against Trinity College Beenleigh in an exciting game to finish the carnival with five straight wins and a trophy.

Unfortunately the carnival was not as successful for the boys, who were unable to secure a win against much bigger and stronger opposition.
During their matches in the Spirit Cup competition, as was the case for the whole week, the boys were not able to capitalise on the opportunities they had and gave away substantial leads to their opposition which they then needed to try to peg back.
Some bright moments in each game were enough to give the boys a bit of a look in, however, inconsistent shooting, defence and intensity proved their undoing in both games.
They can still come away from the carnival proud in the knowledge that they gave it their absolute best shot, worked hard, backed each other, and never gave up.
Although they are one of the smallest and youngest teams in the competition, they stand tall, proud and strong in the knowledge that they put in their best effort, heart and energy for each other and their College.
