Romantic Barcelona San Jose Tiles Provide a Relaxed, Mediterranean Ambiance
When a San Deigo homeowner wanted to renovate her kitchen, she drew inspiration from warm, relaxed locales she had visited in Colonial Mexico and Barcelona Spain. The floral patterns and bright colors of the tiles in these regions were a design element she wanted in her home. The bungalow-style home in San Diego had a galley kitchen that would work well with the patterns of decorative tile.
The home owner's designer reached out to Avente Tile with questions. After being reassured that the tiles were hand-painted and based on traditional Spanish patterns and colorways, it wasn't long before the homeowner and decided on a style that worked with their color scheme for the kitchen.
The Barcelona San Jose Quarter Design pattern was chosen. A quarter design pattern scales the motif into four tiles instead of one and is a great way to keep a pattern from being too busy. The decorative tile spans the entire length of the galley kitchen. To reduce cost and the number of tile cuts for the installation, a molding was used to frame the top edge between the counter and upper cabinets. The homeowner really appreciates how the tiles make the kitchen colorful and inviting. They also are a touchstone that makes her smile and reminisce about her journeys to romantic Mexico and Spain.
