Information Session


CoC staff will be providing an informational session for any new members or interested community partners on April 10, 2019 at 9 AM at the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce (directly prior to the full CoC membership meeting). The session will include a basic introduction to the CoC, current initiatives, and how to get involved in the work. There will also be time for Q&A. The session will last about 45 minutes with a small break before going into the full CoC membership meeting.

Free 2018 Tax Preparation
If your 2018 household income was less than $66,000, Rappahannock United Way (RUW) could help you file your taxes for free. RUW is offering free tax preparation services to eligible households. See flyer here for additional information.


Consumer-Directed Personal Attendants and Medicaid Waivers
 Bring a lunch and learn about skills needed to become a consumer-directed personal attendant.those interested in attending should register here

Chronic Disease Self-Management Program
dRC is hosting a free weekly chronic disease self management program May 2 to June 6, 2019. This program is an evidence-based self-management program consists of six weekly two-hour sessions led by trained volunteers. Topics include dealing with depression, communication skills, healthy eating, better breathing techniques, pain and fatigue management, preventing falls, making decisions, physical activity, dealing with difficult emotions, and more. Autism Competency for Direct Service Providers
  Professionals and DSP staff are invited to an autism training on May 17, 2019 to learn or increase their skill competencies in supporting adolescents and adults with autism. Topics to be covered include general knowledge concerning autism, environmental structure and visual supports, communication, and more.  For more information, contact Kim Lett.

Home Ownership Opportunities
Habitat for Humanity of Caroline County are accepting applications for their Self Help Housing Program. Using this USDA method, Habitat can build and sell a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home with payment between $600-$700 per month for qualified applicants. For more information, see flyer here. Government Resume Writing Workshop

Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) is hosting a Government Resume Writing Workshop on April 18, 2019 at 10 AM. This workshop will provide job seekers with the tools to write a resume for federal, state, and local government employment. Registration is required.
