Washington D.C. Advocacy Trip
On April 1 and 2, the Leadership Group participated in the annual Washington D.C. Advocacy Trip, where more than 50 representatives from our member companies and staff had the opportunity to hear and meet with more than 50 members of the House and Senate to advocate for key issues including housing, immigration, infrastructure, transportation, and health care.

Meetings ranged from Representative Eric Swalwell and Senator Dianne Feinstein, to officials from the FTA. The trip also included a dinner featuring Senator Doug Jones, and a night tour of the Capitol given by Representatives Panetta and Suozzi.

AROUND THE LEADERSHIP GROUP
Silicon Valley Poll Release
The Silicon Valley Poll - conducted February 14-24 by FM3 for the Silicon Valley Leadership Group and the Bay Area News Group - asked 1,913 voters, in the nine Bay Area counties, their attitudes on quality of life and public policy issues facing the region. One thing is clear – people are thinking twice about staying in the Bay Area and are looking for answers to pressing problems.

Q1 Board Meeting

On March 2, Leadership Group board members and staff gathered at the Paul L. Locatelli Center on the Santa Clara University campus to officially launch the organization’s audacious 10-20 year goals in Education, Housing, Transportation, and Environment. The goals, ambitious and far-reaching, will guide the Leadership Group down our Roadmap to a Better Future.

LEADERSHIP GROUP IN THE COMMUNITY
LAM Research Heart & Soles Run
The 6th annual Heart & Soles Run on March 23, 2019 welcomed close to 2,400 participants and 400 volunteers. The scenic 6K/10K course started and finished at Santa Clara University and featured a loop through Avaya Stadium, home of the San Jose Earthquakes.

All proceeds raised from the race directly benefited local charities that teach children good health and fitness habits to set them on a path for success throughout their lives.
Coding5k Library Event With Mayor Sam Liccardo
On March 15, the Coding5k Challenge was featured as one of four community activities led by Mayor Sam Liccardo in lieu of a traditional State of the City address. Hosted at the West Valley Branch Library, third graders participated in an interactive robotics demonstration for program partners and community members. The Mayor interviewed Leadership Group board member Bobby Bell of KLA about their generous sponsorship and our own Alysa Cisneros, who leads our work on this initiative through the Silicon Valley Leadership Group Foundation.
