Feel free to pass this survey on to your library staff, trustees, and volunteers.

Annual Reports
Congratulations on completing your reports! Annual report season is almost over.  Reports are in the process of being reviewed and CCLS staff will be reaching out to you if there are any questions.  Thank you to Valle Blair, Megan Disbro, and Kathy Gustafson for all of their hard work!

System Website Renovations
We moved the system website over to a new WordPress theme. We will be testing colors, elements, and more. Thank you for your patience during our website renovation! This year we will work on making the system website and member websites ADA compliant. More information on this topic will be communicated soon.

New York State Budget

State Library Aid: $96.6M
As you know, Governor Cuomo proposed a $5M cut in Library Aid in this year’s Executive Budget. The FY 2019-20 enacted budget rejected this proposed cut – total State Library Aid will be $96.6M.

State Public Library Construction Aid: $14M
The Governor proposed a $20M cut in capital funding – from $34M back to $14M. Despite the efforts of thousands of library advocates, this cut was the first time in the Governor’s last nine proposed cuts we were unable to repel - these funds were not reinstated in the final product. Language in the Assembly’s one-house budget that would have amended the program to provide for a 90/10 matching category as well as making the program permanent in law was not included.

2020 Census Hearing

The NYS Complete Count Commission will hold a public hearing on plans for the upcoming 2020 Census on Thursday, April 18 in Buffalo:

NYLA Travel Grants
CCLS will be offering 13 $500 grants to member libraries in 2019. Applications for the NYLA Travel Grants will be available in May or June.  Registration typically opens in July and hotels fill up quickly.  This will allow member libraries to take advantage of the early bird registration and to secure a hotel. Watch for updates in May.

NYS Library Construction Aid
It's  never too early to be thinking about construction projects.  Unfortunately, Library Construction Aid has been cut, so CCLS will have a smaller amount to work with than we did last year.  Start thinking about projects and reach of to Jan with ideas.

Lakewood Memorial Library
Nancy Dawson received this award with our greatest respect and appreciation for her stellar interaction with all library users.  Her excellent service ethic and its resulting appreciation by visitors constantly enhance the Lakewood Memorial Library’s stature in the community to highest levels. This was apparent in the success of our 259 Vote and the staff’s performance in our 2018 Library Survey.
