To Members, Friends, and Patrons:
The Town & Gown Players theater building will be open from 10am – 6pm on Thursday, April 25, 2019 to welcome anyone who wishes to remember our friends Marie Bruce, Tom Tanner, and Ben Teague who died here 10 years ago. There will be no program or event, but the building and our garden will be open to receive friends who might want to make a quiet visitation.
The garden adjacent to the Athens Community Theater building, Arcadia, is a Memorial Heritage Garden dedicated on April 30, 2011 to their memories by the friends and families of the Town & Gown Players. Arcadia is a play by Tom Stoppard and the last production on which Marie E. Bruce, Thomas Tanner, and Ben Teague collaborated in December 2008.
The Athens Community Theatre has been our home for 50 years and continues to be a place of vibrant activity, community spirit and artistic endeavor. Our garden is a place of peace and tranquility, a gathering place that is always open to visitors. In the 8 years since it was dedicated, the garden has thrived in a location that was previously uncultivated and is now a restful place to visit and remember.
Thank you for taking a moment on April 25th to remember our friends and the Town & Gown Players of whom they were most devoted members.
