May is gearing up to be a very busy month. I'm kicking things off with another opportunity for people to drop by for a visit to my new space at Artscape, and at the same time I'll be having my annual studio sale. I'm also thrilled to share details about the exhibition I've been working on for Crafted Vancouver.

Studio Sale + First Saturday


Join me this Saturday May 4th, noon to 4pm, for my semi-annual sale of older work, and help them find their forever homes at last. I'll also be participating in First Saturday Open Studios along with a few other Artscape artists this Saturday, so there will be lots to see.
 

I’ll have a mix of work created over the past few years. The selection will include small collage pieces, paper cut designs, gel pen drawings, paper embroidery, and the last remaining pieces of altered book art.
 

Drop by to see my new studio space. You can also visit painter Leanne Christie, and collage artist, Susan Jessop during First Saturday Open Studios.

On The Same Page: Transforming Paper


On The Same Page: Transforming Paper is a curatorial project I've been working on since November, in partnership with Connie Sabo and North Van Arts, as a featured event for Crafted Vancouver. The exhibition showcases 12 artists working with paper as an obsessive occupation, devotional labour and commitment to artistry expressed in this humble and familiar material. This exhibition features 2D work, sculpture, and installation with the intent of elevating and transforming paper in unexpected and provocative ways.
 

Featuring the work of artist-curators Rachael Ashe and Connie Sabo, and fellow artists Charles Clary, Concealed Studio (Mario Sabljak and Cheryl Cheng), Gail Grinnell, Annyen Lam, Monique Martin, Leslie Pearson, Brangwynne Purcell, Martha Ritchie, Grant Withers.
