Historic Hills Scenic (and busy!) Byway
Byway coordinator Diana Hughell is excited to share the many projects underway along the Historic Hills Scenic Byway.
“In April, we completed the first ever Southeast Iowa Theater Crawl,” says Hughell. “It was an opportunity to collaborate with Fairfield First Friday Art Walk and highlight the multiple outstanding theater groups in the region. The event was well attended and well received.”
The first of several Byway tourism videos was completed in March; it highlighted the points of interest and special events in Van Buren County. The video will be unveiled soon! The next section of the Byway to be captured in a promotional video will be the western end, with video and photo shoots taking place in Davis County and Moravia this spring and summer.
Hughell is also hard at work developing four itinerary post cards for the Byway. These will be free postcards that give a series of fun things to do along the Byway based on a common theme, such as food, the outdoors and whole-family fun.
Also in the works, the Historic Hills Bale Trail! Drive along the Scenic Byway and enjoy more than two dozen art installations constructed with hay, straw or corn stalk bales! Stay tuned for more information about this unprecedented event in early May.
