“Hineni”: Here Am I.

A hebrew statement meaning, I am present, ready for action...send me!.

One of the most moving experiences for my groups is a visit to The Friends of Zion Museum in Jerusalem.  This incredible place archives the stories of non-jews like Corrie Ten Boon and many others who have proudly said, “Hineni!” in order to help the Jewish people return to their promised land and in any other way they can. This is Christian Zionism.

It is really impossible to communicate the significance of FOZ in this short newsletter so I encourage you to add it to your list on your next trip to Israel. It is something you must experience in person.

About the Friends of Zion Museum:

The Friends of Zion (FOZ) Museum was opened in 2015 in the heart of Jerusalem with the help of thousands of supporters of Israel from all over the world. It presents a technologically advanced, interactive experience that tells the story of the dream of the restoration of the Jewish people to their historic homeland and the brave non-Jews who assisted them in the realization of that dream.

The Friends of Zion serves as a platform for fighting BDS and Anti-Semitism internationally. The Museum is a non-profit organization operating in Jerusalem and supported by friends from all over the world.

Supporting the Zionist Dream

“If you will it, it is no dream”. Wrote Theodore Herzl, the father of the modern Jewish state, dreaming of the day it might become a reality.

No words could more clearly apply to the recent opening of the Friends of Zion Museum in Jerusalem. For centuries, the Biblical prophecies of Jews returning to their homeland seemed like only a distant dream, yet a dream remembered year after year with Jews repeating the promise “next year in Jerusalem”.

Supporting this dream for a homeland throughout history have stood Christian Zionists who, courageously stood with, nurtured, and, in many cases, sacrificed their lives protecting the Jewish people.

Although there is an increasing awareness in Israel of the historic support of those non-Jewish Friends, many remain unaware of these Christian heroes such as Corrie Ten Boom whose father gave his life to save God’s Chosen People and those who helped establish the present-day state of Israel.

The Friends of Zion Museum exists to tell their story.

During my group’s visit to FOZ last May, we had the pleasure of running into the Museum’s owner, Dr Mike Evans. A staunch Christian Zionist whose work is now and forever etched into the stonework of Jerusalem. Proof that the Jewish people will never stand alone, that millions of Christian Zionists proudly say, “Hineni!”

Thankfully, there are other Christian leaders who are also working tirelessly to increase Christian Zionism. As of today, there are over 3 million Christian Zionists in Pastor John Hagee’s, Christians United For Israel, (CUFI) organization. The annual CUFI Summit in Washington DC will be July 8-9...I hope to see you there!

Another incredible person you should know about is Pastor Chris Edmonds from Tennessee who started, Roddie’s Code. I first heard Pastor Chris speak a few years ago at an AIPAC meeting. He tells the most incredible story of how his father, Master Sergeant Roddie Edmond, saved 200 Jewish American Soldiers in a Nazi controlled prisoner of war camp during WWII. If you ever have the opportunity to hear Pastor Chris speak, please don’t pass it up.

I consider it a privilege and honor to be called a Christian Zionist and loudly and proudly say, “Hineni, Here Am I!”
