<<First Name>>, Trust you have had a restful Easter and school holidays break. This week we go into another school term. This means that there are quite a few courses starting in May. One thing to note is that Courses and workshops need to be book through website not the app. Please check out what is on offer.
In recent times, there have been many devastating news. Some times it may feel relentless due to the 24 media cycle. I was feeling really affected reading about the recent event in NZ the following week as I did not have access to to media until a few days after the event.
<<First Name>>, something incredible happened middle of that week that lifted me out of the fog of distress. It happened at choir practice. Our incredible choir mistress who probably had an inkling of most of our state of mind, chose a Sufi chant to sing for our rounds. It was the most incredible heart felt uplifting somatic experience. What a brilliant choice and brilliant timing! It truly reminded me the power of sound.
Below is a rendition of the song by another choir to give you a feel of the power of the chant.
Singing and chanting have been practices of human kind for a long long time. Now there more and more evidences are coming out on its benefits. It is truly a practice that transcends race, cultures and age. The beautiful thing is that it does not matter what sort of voice you have. The good news is that just the mere act of singing and chanting has its benefits.
Here are 6 reasons why it is downright good for you:
- Boosts your immune system.
- Releases stress.
- Benefits your heart.
- Increases your energy.
- Improves your memory.
- Foster clear thinking through correct breathing
If you want to have a go, come and join the 4 weeks Vedic Chanting Course with Clare Fleming. Clare is my chanting teacher and mentor. She has taught Vedic Chanting for over 20 years and studied with the best in the world in this discipline of practice.
