Black Belt Promotion
This is a rare and special day indeed!
It's been two years since Sempai Aki was promoted to Shodan at our 40th Anniversary. She's been training hard and instructing classes at Hikari Ryuza Do Kan ever since then.
Earlier this month she tested for her Nidan, which is her Second Degree Black Belt. We don't need to tell you how rare this... just think a moment on how many Black Belt promotions you've attended here.
It takes an exceptional person to get a Black Belt in our system and she has gone beyond even that. She's now BECOMING one! This speaks volumes about her courage and the strength of character she has.
Please join us in celebrating this extra special occasion to honor and witness the growth of one of your Yudansha and in turn the growth of our Ryu.
A rare demonstration of escaping from Torture Sticks will be performed at the ceremony. You don't want to miss this!
We'll have a potluck afterwards. Sempai Aki will be talking with the students to coordinate the details for a yummy spread that day.

This is also the promotional ceremony for everyone that will grade later this week. Please check with Sr Professor Shizumi if you need to know days/times of gradings. You must be in attendance on Saturday, April 27th to find out if you passed your grading. Everyone is invited. All friends and family are welcome!
