CELEBRATE MOTHER'S DAY AT THE TANNERY

"The Spring Art Market is being organized by Santa Cruz Mountains Makers’ Market this year, and we also are inviting other artists from outside the Tannery, so it will be much bigger than prior markets. There will be bands, food trucks, dancing, Bistro 112 is even serving wine margaritas: it will be real lively. This year I’m selling some special stuff: anodized metal jewelry, taking titanium and turning it into wild colors and larger pieces. We’re pulling out all the stops for this one."

JAYSON FANN'S SPIRIT NEST COMING TO THE TANNERY FOR EBB & FLOW

Jayson Fann, an artist and educator based in Big Sur, is working with the Arts Council Santa Cruz County, the Santa Cruz City Arts Commission, and the Tannery community to intertwine hundreds of driftwood branches gathered from Main Beach and the San Lorenzo riverbanks into a human-size nest sculpture on the Tannery campus in honor of the Ebb & Flow River Arts Festival on Friday, June 7 from 5:30–9pm. The sculpture, or “Spirit Nest,” will be installed in the Tannery Theatre courtyard as a monument to environmental stewardship and contemplation. The Tannery community is invited to regularly scheduled build days, where they can meet Jayson, ask questions, and participate in the building of the sculpture.
